Im Russian nationality, but soon i want to apply for British Passport, so how long will it take to get him ? as i already passed my exam (life in UK)

With russian passport i cant travel in EU. I want English Passport. As i alredy have indefenite live to remain in UK. So i need passport not because of brothers or sisters, i simply dont have them!

Make your mind up, English or British passport? To the other answerer Russia is not part of the EU so that's probably why he needs a UK passport. Having a siter in law who is Ukranian, but claims to be Russian, this has coloured my view of these people. |

You can apply for naturalisation after passing your Life in the UK exam and 1 year after receiving your Indefinite Leave to Remain. You can apply for naturalisation no more than 30 days prior to the one year anniversary of your ILR. So if you were approved for ILR on 30 March 2008, you can apply for naturalisation on 28 Feb 2009. You have to be approved for naturalisation before you can apply for a British passport. |

Why do you need a UK passport when you have a Russian one already?

If you have indefinite leave to stay you can apply for a UK passport.
Ring up your nearest passport office and make an appointment as you will need to arrange an interview.
Your application will need to be countersigned by a UK resident you have known for at least two years who can vouch for you. They must be a professional such as a doctor, policeman, lawyer, etc. Check the website below for full details.
If all your paperwork is in order it should be straightforward enough but it could still take up to six weeks as the IPS will check all your details and your countersignature information.
