It depends on where you are getting married.If you get married in the Philippines he will have to petition you via K-3 or CR1 visas.If you are marrying here in the US he will petition you via K-1 or fiancee visa.As for work permit, for CR1 - your green card will be sent to you within 2 weeks upon arrival here in the US.For K-3, you will be getting married in the Philippines but you need to file for Adjustment of Status when you get here in the US.For K-1, you have 90 days upon arrival here to get married and after that you can file for Adjustment of Status. Both on K-3 and K-1 you can file for work permit concurrently with your filing of Adjustment of Status.You will get your work permit in about 2 months from filing and after biometrics.You can then work using the work permit while your green card is in process. |

It will take you from 10 to 14 months to get your visa to the United States. Most likely this will be a K-3 visa.
Upon arrival in the United States you will have to file for Adjustment of Status. Most people file for a work permit at the same time. You should expect it to take from 45 to 90 days to get the work permit.
Once you get the work permit you can go to a Social Security Administration office and get a Social Security card. This will take 10 days to 2 weeks.
With both the work permit and Social Security card you can take any job that's offered to you. |

If you are currently in Manila, then you will get a green card within 4 weeks of arriving after you have gone through consular immigrant petition and received an immigrant visa. Once you received the green card, you can go to the Social Security Admin. office and obtain a Social security card. the Social security card is evidence that you are eligible to work.
If you intend to adjust your status in the U.S., then you can file for employment authorization at the same time of filing for adjustment of status. Once the USCIS received your employment authorization application, you will receive a work permit within approximately 60-90 days. Therefore, you may work while your I-130 and I-485 applications are pending with USCIS.
