Why are we seeing this increase in lies about immigration from people that we trust?

Now in his post, he smears pro-immigrant and civil rights organizations, wrapping his divisiveness in the cloak of freedom of speech. Krikorian makes certain to conflate the efforts of these organizations to fight hate in the immigration debate with Islamic extremists in Europe and Canada, not bothering to explain just what in the devil the link might be between religious extremism and protecting civil rights

Krikorian also disparages the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and its laudable work in fighting extremism and racism in this country. He claims that SPLC's groundbreaking exposés of the anti-immigrant movement are motivated by a pro-immigrant agenda. The only problem is that SPLC has no such agenda and no stake in the current immigration debate. It has never expounded on comprehensive immigration reform -- and never will.

In fact, Tanton has been and continues to be at the center of the anti-immigrant movement and has been referred to as the "puppeteer." And Krikorian never tackles Tanton's decades of bigoted commentary nor his interactions and friendships with a number of White supremacists, anti-Semites, and eugenics aficionados, as documented extensively by SPLC.

I don't know and it really doesn't matter, educated people will look for the truth, closed minded racists will believe anything as long as it suits their agenda of trying to oppress people of color. They are the minority and they know it.

It is not a matter of race. It's all about economics. Even in good times the US has a saturation point. If all the illegals had come into the country legally by now our lawmakers would be seriously considering whether our immigration policy is too liberal.
But apparently since they aren't ''on the books', aren't statistically finite - Alas!... to lawmakers they don't exist and, therefore, aren't their problem.

We are all just so glad that the SPLC considers themselves "The" organization to decide what "hate" is, or a "hate group" for that matter. After browsing their website, I am not under the illusion that they are capable of making those decisions. They consistently target groups which do not have the same political views as them and their reports lack documentation that provides credibility.Examples? Since the percentage of hispanics residing in the U.S. is increase, it is expected that the number of crimes against them increase. Do you know that in the FBI data hispanics are not separated out as a distinct group in perpetrators but are in victims? Indeed several of the crimes against blacks were cases of the gang issues in Los Angeles and similar crimes. SPLC of course does not clarify any of this. They would rather blame it on anti illegal immigration groups, which in a large part are about the issue, not the ethnicity. Does not the SPLC reporting incite racial tension and hate in itself? They should take a good look in the mirror before they criticize other groups. In general, these groups that claim they are there to prevent hate create it. Why? I imagine the money they get from the government might be some of the incentive.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is from the Jesse Jackson School of Public Extortion. Their numbers cannot be trusted any more than their mission, which is to ride the "civil rights" wave for every dollar they can wring from it.

I see very few reports of people against immigration. What I see people against is illegal aliens. Also I see people who are for amnesty are constantly trying to blur the lines between what an immigrant, and an illegal alien is.
Most of us that want the illegal alien problem solved know the difference, and we don't want an illegal population rewarded for blatantly breaking our laws, and then arrogantly demanding that we give them full rights as citizens.
