A good way to answer this, is to think from another pespective.

From a legal immigrant's pespective.

If Americans are being stopped to enter other countries, what will happen? Americans might consider it as a bad idea, thinking they will enrich other countries with their expertise and culture, as well as serving no harm to the countries and get to experience something they couldn't get from their own country. So it's beneficial for both parties.

I reckon many will agree on this.

But if the situation happens to foreigners who was thinking to go to America for same set of good reasons, their intention might just go down the drain as many will disagree, thinking it will bring down the economy, lower down the salary of IT workers and so forth. So, in a sense, does it just benefit one party?

Certainly, every human has their rights to decide on their own destiny in life, the place for their kids' education, the home for them to build and the place for their family to grow. Just for one particular reason - their place of birth, restricts them from all these rights. I would see it as cruel.

As many will only think of themselves before the others, which it's a human nature, therefore rules are tighten, numbers are restricted, most immigrants are prevented from entering the States. Ideally, it speaks to protect the country's interest, safety, population growth and culture.

But how many of you think it's unfortunate for someone to born in less developed country? What has the future install for him/her? Should he/she forget about his/her dream to live happily in developed country like America?

Put yourself in ther shoes and your answer might not be yes to your own question. And for mine as well.

I don't! Immigrants made the country the great place that it is. Without them we wouldn't be who we are. As far as the ones that come here illegal they can go back. They raise the costs for all of us! They need to do it right and assimilate with their language and nationality, but rejoice with their culture.

I think it is the same for any country.

Controlled immigration is good for the economy.

Fast, uncontrolled immigration leads to divisions, mistrust and eventually bloodshed, even civil war.

I think most western nations are facing this prospect in the coming decades unless the problem is addressed soon.

Illegal aliens will be fairly simple to stop in a year. The influx of immigration needs to be turned down to a lower level, and very quickly. This country does not have the resources to sustain the level we currently have. Why in the world Congress thinks we want to take a bath once a week and have the immigration we currently have is beyond all rational understanding.

well illegals come to this country because they are unwealthy in their country of orgin and the only alternative they have to suceed in life and not starve is to immigrate the U.S illegally
Do you think if illegals immigrated to the U.S for fun they would come knowing the discrimination they would have to face!? of course not! I mean lets not be ignorants and think for a momment in our lifes. if we were dieing in our country and we needed to put a limit to it what would you do keeping in mind that the only alternative we have is immigrating illegally..i would immigrate illegally....
also many say then why dont they petion for a visa???????????
but then again they dont realize that they are unwealthy and a visa takes a long time to be processed in the mean time the person dies!?
visas especially in Mexico are usually solicitated by wealthy educated and high class people, which the majority arent.

Why do I feel rejected when i read a question like this?
I mean Im mexican, but i live in MÃ©xico city. so Ã'm not part of the problem, nevertheless its kinda hard to read people sayin' that the illegal immigrants are something like a pest, and thats weird too, why do I feel sad if along the rows of the illegal immigrants thereÂ´s people from several countries not just MÃ©xico.
A while ago I said that I live in MÃ©xico city, I have a good life, I was lucky to have the parents I have, my father a lawyer and my mother a gerontologist, we dont live with luxury, but we have all we need and lots of things that we dont need, like a big house, cable, stuffed thats not essential to live. But the truth is that thereÂ´s not a lot of people that lucky, in my country there are boys and girls that from their early years have to worry about having something to eat the next day, in my country thereÂ´s people with no health services at all, in my country thereÂ´s people that doesnÂ´t know how to read or write, in my country thereÂ´s people who doesnÂ´t have even the most basic services, the truth is that in my country there's people who was born hopeless, they dont have a single chance, and most of them are not even aware of it.
There are times I want to buy something and I realize IÂ´ll have to wait and to save a lil' bit more money, and I get angry. But then I see a homeless boy askin' me for a coin to buy a "taco" and thatÂ´s all it takes for me to realize that I have a hell of a life and that Im being unfair.
Now, among those hopeless persons there are some that see in the U.S of A. a chance to improve their lifes, so they cross the border, some die in the desert, some comeback, some get a job, they risk everything they know just for a single chance, they allow other to humiliate 'em, for a chance.
I understand their motivations, I understand their pain, it mustn' be easy to leave ur family, but I do understand too the fact that theyÂ´re breaking the american law.
I wonder, is it really that hard to get to some kind of agreement, is it really that hard to find a way?
I know thereÂ´s a lot of people that says they dont pay taxes and that they are stealing the jobs of the americans, yes thats all true, but not completely, I mean, there aren't a lot of americans willing to do the work that the illegal immigrants do, isnÂ´t it true that the fact that the companys want to save money on salaries is part of the problem.
I mean I live in MÃ©xico city and I was working at AT&T providing tech support for american customers who lived in Texas, California, Illinois and many other places, you see?
the american companies want to pay cheap labor, what do you say about that, those are good jobs that any american of my age could do.
Do u realize this is a shared problem, I really think that we can find a solution, I really think that racism is not the answer, and I really think that if the mexican and american goverments work together we can find a way, I do not think we're silly enough to not solve this.

Of course legal immigration should not be stopped. Illegal immigration, on the other hand, must be stopped.

This is not to say that illegal immigrants are evil. It is easy to see that they are just trying to find a better life. But American economy and social institutions like schools and jails cannot support such a massive population of unregistered non-taxpaying citizens.

Truly, American businesses provide most of the motivation for people to move into America illegally. They pay illegal immigrants much less than any taxpaying citizen could survive on.

I think that the answer to the question of illegal immigration has a few vital parts:
1) Make it easier for Latin American and especially Mexican immigrants to become LEGAL citizens of America.
2)Fund social aid programs which make Mexico a better place to live.
3)Tighten border security- America is vulnerable to many threats with the borders so easy to cross.
