How many of your friends will benefit if an amnisty bill passes in the congress?

I am surprised at the vehement hatred I see posted in answer to this question.

I have family memebers that would benefit from the president's proposed guest worker program (no amnesty has been proposed), due to a major screw up with immigration forms being mishandled and no opportunity being given to refile or correct. They are not from Mexico, however they are of latin origin. They are in limbo, waiting for a response. Been waiting two years. They were here on a religious workers' visa. I know of many people who would benefit from a guest worker program. It is a humane response to a very complicated problem.

Now, those of you who don't hang with farmers--will you be willing to pick the crops? If the food goes unpicked, how much will you be willing to pay for that very scarce head of lettuce? $5.00 perhaps, if picked by legal American hands? How could you afford to eat, let alone pay for gas?

Have you considered that unemployment is 4%, which is about 9-10 million Americans. There are about 15-20 million undocumented workers here. If we subtract that number we still have anywhere from 4~10 million jobs unfilled. What will happen if we don't have our illegals willing to work for so little? Competition for workers, jobs that just don't get filled, inflation, a shrinking economy and a falling dollar. None of these are very good things--they all lead to a downward economic spiral.

But, I can see that most of you who have answered are inspired by hatred rather than facts. Learn to love your illegals and be glad they are here; they allow so many of us to live a very comfortable life.

I have many bright and intelligent friends, who were brought into the u.s illegally, they had no choice in the matter, and i believe they are Americans, just like me, they were just not lucky enough to have a piece paper telling them they are American.Therefore, i understand the illegal immigrant struggle, and support amnesty for illegal immigrant (students).They don't know any other way of life, but the American way, so i think it would be unfair to punish them for something they have no control over.

OMG!! Legal immigrants did not get lucky and find a piece of paper on the ground declaring them citizens. They worked for the right of citizenship! They worked for that piece of paper! I will do all I can to stop an amnesty bill from passing. I think every True American (not illegal criminal) should take a day of work and school and go on a march. See how many immigrants stay after our economy drops out!

Quite a few, actually. Several of my friends wouldn't have to worry about their parents being deported if given amnesty.

None of my friends are illegal that I know of. And to all those who said that you won't benefit, aren't you the same ones who complain that they raise taxes. Wouldn't you, your friends, and your family all benefit?

As a home-grown Hispanic woman, American all the way, as were my parents and so forth, I do not want this Amnesty bill to pass, mainly because they will win and then they will start bringing more and more over here. Listen, I work at a big store(well known store)and the majority of our customers are mexicans and they are the rudest, filthiest, ignorant people I know of. And they blast their ranchera music like the teens with their rap, and they have mexican flags or what have you in their nice trucks or cars and they buy 2 carts full of food and pay with foodstamps and dish out a load of money to buy the non food items and speak to you in mexican and when you tell then you don't understand, they get an attitude! and too, they are our biggest shoplifters! No amnesty, obviously, whoever wants to give them this amnesty doesn't live next door to them or work where they shop, or have to see their little taco mini mobiles set up on the corners or see them set up on the side of the road their yard sale/flea market wares, they colonize all the corners here in Albuquerque, and there's just too many here! It's so pathetic!!
