How much does it cost to become a United States citizen?

I've been in the US for ten years and I was wondering how much it would cost to become a citizen? I need the current cost, not the cost from years ago. Thanks so much.

You need to contact Immigration and Naturalization Services in your area or district to find out. Google it. Good luck

Are you a legal permanent resident?

If you are and have been for five years (or three if married to a citizen) you must file an application for naturalization. (Form N-400) ($595)

Get passport type photos taken ($15)
Get copies of a variety of documents ($1-100 depending on what you have and need)
Get fingerprinted at an official facility ($80 per person)
Attend an interview and prove you meet the qualifications (verbal test for example on the Constitution, English reading and writing)
Take the oath and surrender your PR card, you should apply for a certificate or a passport (about $100-- get a passport it's more useful)

So the end total is probably about $850 give or take, more if you have documents that have to be translated into English.

well, are you a green card holder? if you are, you can apply. The N-400 filing fee is $675, including the biometrics fee.

What ever the cost to come here legally is a fair price to pay to get the benefits of legal citizenship!
