How old do you have to be to get a work permit?

I heard that its 14 but just want to be sure. I live in New Mexico if that helps... and also if there is any jobs that i can have at a younger age... thanx

you have to be 14
but you have to find a job first then go and get your permit
its really weird how it works
you have to find a job first before you get your permit
I know right kinda stupid when you need the permit to prove you can work (but thats how it works)

also you have more of a chance getting a jobs when your 15
because the younger you are the more training you have to go through
I know you can try the Junior red cross lifeguarding
you can get a job with the government and get paid more then minimum wage but the only thing is you have to go through training for like a month it's only like once a week on a saturday morning then you have to take a test and make requirement
I think I might do it but my birthday is coming up and I think it would be best to wait till then because I wouldn't have to go through training anyway...

you just have more of a chance getting a job when your older people look more at the age then experience unless you look older and can fake your age

If you are 15 or younger you will need a work permit

How to Obtain Work Permits:

Work permits are only issued if you already have a job or the promise of a job. The minimum age for employment is 14. A work permit is required until you turn 16. Work Permits can be obtained at the school you are attending or from the Superintendentâ€™s office of the school district in which you reside, or from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions office nearest you. Your parent or guardian must be with you at the time your work permit is issued. Proof of age at the time of issuance must be furnished. You must have one of the following documents:

Birth Certificate
Valid Drivers License
State Issued ID
School ID/Records indicating date of birth
Military ID/Dependent's ID Card
Native American Tribal Document
Medicaid Card/Medical Records indicating Date of birth
Resident Alien Card
US Passport
Baptismal Record
