How to get married as a Canadian in Illinois?

My husband to be and I are having difficulty in getting married. I'm Canadian and he is American. We were hoping to get married in Illinois where he lives and then move to Canada. I wouldn't be staying in Illinois, I would be coming back to Canada and then we would start the sponsorship part (he would remain in the States at this time). Any ideas on how to go about this? He has been divorced (has his court certified papers)... Any help would be great! Thank you

Getting Married really doesn't do anything...
other than you are Married...

He still has to apply through the Canadian
Embassy /Consulate for a Canadian entrance
VISA...(or what ever it is called now).

They may not allow him into Canada as
a permanent resident...
I am sure that there are a lot of Financial
obligations that you must meet before
anything is processed...
Do know for sure if he has anything criminal
on his record, even a DUI he will not be
allowed into Canada.

Not sure why anyone would want to leave
a Free Country and move to a Socialist one ???
