How to go work in USA from Toronto, Canada?

Hi, i am a visa student living in Toronto. I will be graduating by this summer 2009. However, I want to go to US and find a job there (also because I have parents permanently living in Cali). Is there any chance that i can do that? Is there any paper that i have to apply to get in US? Should am I required to have a job offer before i can get a work visa/ permit to US? Please verify my questions. Thanks a lot

Workers visa is US Employer's petition. You have to get hired by US Employer who is willing to petition Worker's visa for you. You cannot file the petition as employee, even if you get hired.

Are you a Canadian citizen. If so, look up TN Visa. If your degree qualifies, you can look for work in the USA.

If you are not a Canadian Citizen and would otherwise qualify for a TB visa, you can see if an employer will sponsor you for an H-1B visa. You cannot move to the USA without a a sponsor.

Otherwise you cannot unless you can find a US citizen to get married to.
