Gurkha families migrating into the UK if Lumley has her way is she going to pay for all this?
They did a job they were paid and have a pension so stop crying about settlement now and honour your contracts is what I say if not disband the Gurkha regiment before they all come over here to mess up the UK infrastructure any further- we have enough immigrants from the EU as it is we are overcrowded in the UK. Additional Details You will not bulldoze me with stupid comments. We do not need every person that has a work visa for the UK having the right to settle no matter if its soldiers or nurses or builders or any job - its just a job and they were lucky to have the job is what I say - you say different you say wrongly in my opinion.

Major Disaster
|
You've said it all - another mass immigration.
Not only that - we are setting a precedent, now everyone who wants to come here will be claiming that they fought for us on some obscure time and place.
The floodgates will open ! |

Perhaps you don't mind the 80 million Turks heading this way if then if Clown, Cameroon and Clegg the Dredge allows Turkey to join the EU?
The Gurkhas btw 'may' be able to come here, and they 'may' be able to bring their families here if they want to because they have SERVED in the British armed forces with honour and distinction. Did you ever? In any case, up to 100,000 'could' be eligible, but that hardly means they'll all come storming in.
I suggest to you that the Gurkhas are a very special case, and you Mr Questioner, should get over it. |

How about the 300,000 Poles who are in the UK and have never served a day in their lives for our country, they just send money home - an estimated £1bn in 2008. At the very least least the Gurkhas have served in the British Army and some have died doing so.
We should allow the Gurkhas in instead of having the dross of eastern Europe enjoying what the Gurkhas have fought for. |

Well i would rather 100,000 people who are patriotic to Britain than millions who couldn't careless about the place and their only goal is to change it suit themselves. What would you rather have?
The Gurkha's have without doubt proved their loyalty to Britain and if that does not deserve their place here then what does? |

Well if we kicked out all the "British" Taliban and their supporters we'd not only have plenty of room for them, but the country would also be a lot safer.
Who do we see about getting that organised? |

My oh my what a fantastic border control they would provide. Damn sight better than these poorly trained retards who waltz around airports convinced they are experts in counter terrorism each time the buzzer goes and they catch you wearing a belt |

A work visa, having served in our forces is more than a work visa! They have contributed to our country and some have paid with their lives. I would sooner have them in the UK than the rest of the economic migrants that the UK seems to attract. As for the army just being a job, that is a typical glib comment of someone who has never served. Yes they are lucky they had that job, you should see what they have to go through to get it!
The UK is already messed up with immigration a few Gurkha's won't make any difference |

What about the people of Pakistan who are allowed in willy nilly because of past history with them. The Gurkha regiment if military cuts are accepted
Will have the Gurkha regiment disbanded. |

Firstly, even if they were all given the right to come to and settle in the UK it is very unlikely anything near that amount would.
Is it ok for hundreds of thousands (actually millions) of immigrants to come to this country who have actually given nothing to this country to come and settle but not a few who have been loyal (to the point of giving an oath of allegiance) for a couple of hundred years to not have the chance?
You obviously know nothing about the Ghurkas or the history of them and the British, if you did you would not be making such idiotic and crass statements. |

If they were prepared to die for this Country,as many of their comrades did, then they should be allowed to live in it. One way to pay for their residence here is to summarily throw out all the illegal immigrants and the bogus asylum seekers. I would much prefer to have one of these brave soldiers watching my back than a hundred people like you. |

Bring them in! 100,000 or 1,000,000 dispersed throughout our thriving multicultural and diverse society you would hardly notice they were here.I live among a very large Pakistani,Bangladeshi,Polish,Iranian,Afg... and many many other immigrants all with their own communities ,shops ,places of worship and everybody gets along great.......NOT. But nevertheless the Nepalese would not make the slightest bit of difference. What i want to know is why do we not have large communities of Americans,Germans,Australians and Spanish. Why are they not of the opinion that the U.K. is the place to be. |

oh shut up - they deserve to be here, my dad served with gurkhas in malaysia and i dont see why they cant be entitled to everything my dad is. they fought and died alongside men like my dad and its about time it was recognised and not just wiped under a carpet and ignored. |

Yes i am thankful for their role in the beloved Empire, however we dont have the space in the country. We cannot afford to help them. For once in my life, i support what labour is doing. |
