i've been staying in UK for nearly 2years, i'd like to extend my visa by changing them into student visa, would that be possible?

Upto my information (that is a bit stale about TWES) TWES visa cannot be changed in to student visa, it can only be changed into Tier 2. If u want to study further, u need to get confirmation of ur course and then can apply for a new student visa back home in UK High Commission/Embassy.

Rules regarding work visas and student visas have recently changed. TWES is a work experience visa and the purpose of is to allow non-EU citizens a chance to gain work experience in the UK which is Tier 5. Tier 5 as I understand it at the moment is a non-convertible visa which means the expectation with this visa is once you reach the maximum length of the visa, which I understand is 2 years, you must return to your home country. There is nothing that would bar your from applying to a University in the UK and applying for a student visa once you return. The point you will have to remember about a student visa is that you cannot receive funding from the UK government for your schooling, you will have to pay international rates, and you must be able to support yourself.
To answer your question you will have to return to your country and the apply for a student visa as it cannot be done here. My advice to you would be to return to your home country, get enough funding to ensure you do not need help from the UK while studying, and the apply to a University in the UK. Also if you are still in the UK it might be worth your time to speak with an immigration solictior. |
