How would this situation be resolved legally (illegal immigration)?

Say a border hopper took a boat over or swam to texas, and i was on the other side. He took a pot shot at someone and missed. He tried to get away, I followed him a few feet into mexico, killed him there than came back.

What would happen?

There would be massive protests about the poor Mexican and the racist American. You would be extradited to Mexico and spend the rest of your life in prison.

You would be tried for murder if he was fleeing and you were not a cop and he was actually in another country when you shot him!

The assault charge on you would be ignored, while you would be extradited to mexico for murder. When he ran back to Mexico, he is no longer a threat. Self defense can not be used. Frankly the US don't have the back bone to defend people who actually defend themselves attacks by illegal immigrants, they aren't going to defend this situation.
