I say that he should not be President because he is not going to uphold our laws. The illegal aliens have broken the laws of the U.S. There is nothing racist about wanting to send them back where they belong. Think of it this way. You go on vacation. While you are away, an illegal Mexican family moves in. They eat your food, sleep in your beds, wear your clothes and drive your car. They say it is okay because they are cutting the grass and picking your vegetables. It is not okay. Obama is wrong and this stand will be his undoing. These people should have civil rights in Mexico, not in the U.S. if they are illegal aliens.

I think that the issue of illegal immigration has nothing to do with race and everything to do with following the law or breaking it.

Those who willingly and knowingly break the law are criminals. Race is not an issue.

This playing of the "race" card is dispicable Democrat jive talk. Sen Ted Kennedy has been sabataging the Border Patrol and ICE for years, cutting funds, and LYING that demographics of the country wouldn't CHANGE. Illegals constitute 30% of prisoners having robbed, stolen, killed,etc. Many drive unlicensed, uninsured, uninspected, even intoxicated...cause accidents and RUN away from the scene of the accident. Green Cards allow people to come over and work, they get physicals, do not carry diseases, pay taxes, and help out. Illegals drive down labor value, work "off the books" pay no taxes, get injured and head for the free hospital at taxpayer expense.

There's not a fair comparison to civil rights and immigration. The people who were the beneficiaries of the civil rights movement were citizens, any way you look at it.

However, let's face the political reality that if Hispanic/Latin Americans vote, they might just vote Obama if they buy the analogy.

you should know that Obama is for Obama first of all and will leap whichever way he thinks is the best path to the oval office for him look at what he has said about his part in the voting of the war he was a state legislator and so naturally could not vote for or against the war in the Senate, I shall not be voting for someone that when saying this is thwarting the will of the legal americans i can not believe he is playing the race card so early on there is still a whole year to go

Pulling the race card is the last (and often only) resort of those whose lack of intelligence fails to raise the dialogue to the level of facts, figures, data.

In other words: he proved to me he isn't nearly as bright as I had previously thought and hoped he might be. Not that I ever planned to vote for him this time--he isn't experienced enough. But I did have a level of respect for the man, and thought "one day, he is gonna be a contender".

Maybe he'll get smarter AND wiser with time.

He is killing any chance he has at being the president, not that he really had a chance. If someone that actually is PRO immigration, meaning amnesty, etc. is on the ticket, I am voting the other way. I have voted democrat the last few elections, and since Bush himself is for amnesty, I would prefer to stay Democrat...but Obama is acting like an idiot, too.

After reading the posts in the Politics & Government > Immigration forum, I'd have to agree that racism played a strong role in the bill being shot down. The racism in this forum makes a KKK meeting look tame.

Unfortunately we weren't there during the closed door debates.How those proceeded we have no idea.Maybe he speaks the truth to what went on behind closed doors.We only see their public faces which we all know can be entirely different when out of the public eye.
