UPDATED RESPONSE
I don't think the US considers age in immigration qualifications as applied to skilled worker; I know that Australia and Canada do, but 45 isn't all that old
{EDIT:} Well, Australia doesn't offer permanent residence base on skills to anyone OVER 45 so do it now if you can but if you have a skill in need you can probably get a company there to offer you a job and sponsor you.
YOu also might qualify for a shorter stay, and you never know, they might allow you to change to a permanent program at some point in the future.
Canada is a good bet for skilled workers.
For Canada at least you can check your qualifications easily online and see if you can score enough points. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/index.asp.
Overall it's very hard to get into the US these days, they have relatively few visas available and the best way to get in is to be married to a citizen. Canada and Australia place much more emphasis on skilled workers. So it deends on your educational and occupational skills. |

Australia has an age limit for 45 so you will be denied for that country,
Canada's age limit is 55 so you should be ok.
NZ also has the age limit of 55.
I dont know what age limit the USA or the UK have. |

I am 57 and have a US green card in progress. I am an engineer from Canada working legally in Los Angeles and can design highly advanced electronic systems and since 20 US jobs depend on my work my case may not be typical. |

If you would like to move to Australia not being married will not make any difference.
Are you skilled? If you are there is no benefit being married.
Looking on http://www.migrationinternational.com/browse.htm you will be able to find different options that will help you choose. Or you can goto http://www.migrationinternational.com/form.htm and complete the form and free of charge we will pick a visa that will suit you. This site only deals with Australia migration visa options. |

Hello there.
It all depends on what Nationality you have. Also if you have any criminal convictions of any sort and your education.
I think you will stand a better chance to go to the US if you're a highly skilled worker.
I don't know the situation with Canada and Australia. |
