I'm a US citizen married to a mexican. We are returning to the US in 1 year. What Visa? cost? TIME?

We were married in mexico, we are going to return to the US in 1 year. But I don't know where to start? A Lawyer, do everything on my own and risk a very long wait. help me someone.

Was she in the US illegally? if so and she left the US - she had a 10 years ban and you will have to wait 10 years.

If she has no ban then she should apply for a Green Card if you two intend to move from Mexico to the US. You will have to go to the US embassy in Mexico and fill forms, it's the best to start now and then she'll have her Green Card when you will return to the US.

You need to start the process to apply a green card for your spouse. Your spouse will not be able to accompany you back to US if he/she does not have the green card. The whole thing could take up to a year.The details of how to apply can be found on www.uscis.gov.

Since you left out a bit of information I can only say that you should check with the US consulate in Mexico that has jurisdiction over where you live. You may (should) be eligible for "direct consular filing". This would most likely be the fastest, easiest and have he most benefits for someone in your situation.
