My wife and I recently went to see our case officer for her immigration process, and she got approved. We have the approval letter and are now waiting on her green card to arrive, but checking on the kids' statuses (on thier pending I-130's) I noticed that my wife's I-130 has not yet been approved. Don't we get some kind of approval for that also? Wouldn't that have been approved before the I-485 was approved?
BTW...I am a U.S. Citizen and we filed all this stuff after we got married last year, if that makes a difference. Now that she's all approved we can start focusing on the kids' I-130s and thier consular processing. Whew....maybe someday we'll be able to make an end of it. ;)

Hi J...yeah, we are in the exact same position, I just would have expected to get an approval notice at some point mailed to us (or handed to us) for the I-130. I know the website doesn't get updated reliably though. Congrats on your green card!

Don't worry about it.Internally they would have to approve the I-130 before the the I-485 can be approved.
The I-130 is suppose to be official recognition by the government that it has enough evidence that the relationship exists.If there is no relationship present it cannot approve a benefit based on something that doesn't exist..........unless they are second guessing the marriage internally. |

Same thing happened to me. I don't think their online system is reliable. My I-485 was approved over a month ago, I already have my green card in hand, but online it says that my I-130 is still being initially reviewed. It was only touched on Dec 1, to let me know that they received the petition. Weird. |

The I-130 had to have been approved prior to the I-485 approval. A notice would not be necessary. |
