I Live in Mexico and have an expired 2002 Greencard, I hae a tourist visa to travel into the USA, can I renew? I would like to try to rinstate my permanent status in the US by renewing my expired Green Card. Can I enter as a tourist start renewal process succesfully from inside the USA claiming I had not left just didn´t renew my card? If so what forms are required and how can this be done?

Hugo and MOJADO, honestly I´m just asking around, as a biomed working for an American Company I thought it would be the easiest route to process I understand my company can also apply/sponsor for an L1 Visa taking. trust me I let that expire for a reason and I dont intend to lie or cheat anyone. My hispanic education and beliefs are againts that... COMO MEXICO NO HAY DOS!!! You guys are just two more examples of why the WORLD hates americans so keep it up I know their not all that way. Do you mean that you were out of the US for seven years? If so, you have lost your permanent residency. You could request a special returning resident visa at the nearest US consulate, but after such a long stay it is very unlikely that you will get it.
Green Card Renewal: Individuals with expired Green Cards may be considered "out of status" and may be denied entry into the United States. It is vital to keep your proof of permanent residence current and valid. If your Green Card was issued over 10 years ago, there is an expiration date printed on the front of the card.

Your status as permanent resident has expired the instant you started to _live_ in Mexico, regardless of what the date on the card says. If you want one again, you'll have to go through the whole process again. |
