Switzerland is another great place to move to. In Denmark and Norway people can walk into a building leaving baby carriages out, knowing they'll be there in safety...

The details to your question are interesting. In the past I have worked with a few Africans. They came here legally to "seek a better life". They (all six of them) had one thing in common. They all said that the USA is not what they expected. After my further inquiry I learned that they all thought the US was "The Land of Opportunity" and that they learned that it is in fact not so. As a matter of fact they all commented that the only way you could better yourself by coming to the US is to do it illegally, work, and send money home. Once you have built up a nice nest egg...return to your home land.

Knowing immigrants has givin me a whole new view of how they opperate. This is why I detest ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS! They are here to better their lives alright. HOWEVER they are only here to take advantage of our money and government services. This in tern falls in the laps of tax payers. They get to take advantage of the monetary conversion and get a practically free ride (government services, medical, etc.) all the while. Its dishonest and a shame.

You are the perfect example of what IS wrong with much of America. You are faced with a moral dilemma - living in a country whose values and culture you find repugnant and yet those countries you find most attractive to you, are rejected due to issues of convenience (climate and language). If you are willing to uproot and move, does not your moral courage provide you with the strength to endure a cooler climate or learn a new language.

Hence your convictions prove rather weak. Either move or stop whining and try to be a part of a solution.

I have at times thougt about the best place to live, not in an expat sense, but in what if and where to go. Also, who has'nt thought about traveling. Australia has come to my great attenton. In my searches I found that a construction worker will get alot of help to become a citizen and investing in the country in a monatary way. Not, crooked just like bonds and so on.
