Depends on its status as a resident!
There are a few ways:

1) You can enter the citizenship after 3 years from the date that you get the green card "if you're still Married " with the person you sponsored the green card.

2) You can enter the citizenship 5 years after the date that you get the green card 'If not Married "with the person you sponsored the green card.

Not forgetting that the time 3 or 5 years "does not include" the trips made abroad to stay for more than 6 months. For example, if you made a trip to your country with duration of 9 months, then these 9 months will be deducted the time you need to enter the U.S. citizenship, understood?

The process is very simple, you just have to go on the site of immigration to know about the documentation you need and fill the form N-400. The process takes + / .- 6 months. Once approved and attended the final ceremony, then you can give input p / get the U.S. passport that is ready within 2 weeks.

3 years if you obtained your green card through marriage to US Citizen and still married to the same person. Otherwise 5 years, you will be eligible to apply for Naturalization.
