I am an undocumented student studying physics at a University.?
|
I came to the Unites States when I was 15 years old. I graduated from High School with a GPA of 3.65. Now, this is my third year studying physics at a University and I am doing really well. I know vector calculus and advance mathematics. I know about electricity and magnetism and the unification of these forces. I know quantum mechanics.... etc
Unfortunately, some people in the USA stereotype immigrants as the ones that bring disgrace to America. Truly, that is not the case with me. In the 8 years that I have been here, I have NEVER visited a hospital, or received financial aid from the government. Except for the launch tickets that were given in high school, and I stilled had to pay like 50 cents everyday for the launch.
Yes, I was born in Mexico, but since my county did not offered us an opportunity for a better life; my family was obliged to move to America.
I am grateful to this great nation that supported me and that still supports me.
I even learned the national anthem and the pledge of allegiance (I have an accent but it does not really matter).
Yes, illegal immigration is a problem, but you have to look at it from both sides of the coin. There are lots of student’s throughout the nation that are undocumented and that have the potential to contribute to the growth of this nation.
So, what is your opinion on this issue of immigration and your opinion on undocumented students? Additional Details let's act like civilized people. No need to insult.

I think K-12 education costs us $10,000 per year per child, and more if you don't speak English. Language in schools have been cut out for our own children to teach ESL to the children of those who come illegally. Their children graduate bilingual; ours don't.
The schools in border states are failing.
Their better life should not come at our expense. |

I understand you are a well behaved and intelligent person - but how is it fair for those who actually follow the rules, to see those who break the law get ahead of them. Just because your home country doesn't give the life you want doesn't give you the right come into this country without following the rules we have set up for immigrants.
I'd still kick you out based on arrogance alone, to say nothing of the criminal acts you've commited (yes, it is a crime to enter the country without proper permission from a border guard, no matter how much you 'need to'). |

PLS GTFO. If you wish to be here legally then go through the process. Many immigrants do every year, and you being illegal just piss in their face. So pls GTFO you are not welcome and try and do it the right way. |

Illegal aliens are illegal aliens and no matter what their GPA is, they need to be deported. You have received financial assistance through the tax payers whether you admit it or not, we paid for your high school and we shouldn't have to. Your parents selfishly disrespected our laws, our citizens and our country and put you in a bad position. You are an adult now however, and as such, you should quite breaking our laws, go home and do things the right way. |

Why, because of your country's proximity to the U.S. border should you have any more right to stay here than the rest of the third-world? What if everyone who was "trying to make a better life for themselves" came to the U.S. from Africa, India, and a dozen other impoverished countries? All of you who whine about some Americans begin racist or "unfair" to immigrants need to take in a few illegal families yourselves and quit volunteering our tax money to subsidize them, or in the case of anchor babies, give them outright welfare. Protecting our own country and tax dollars (especially in the current economic crisis) is perfecly normal, it's not racist. How dare you think you should be able to jump the immigration line ahead of millions of others who are applying legally? I resent the fact that my life is affected by our idiotic Congress who continues to allow illegals to stay and even promotes it (for their own self-serving reasons.) I'm sick of you people crying "racism" every time an American voices the unfairness of it all. It's easy to think it's OK when you're on the receiving end, but Americans are being shafted left and right by illegal costs and no matter what you claim, they TAKE more than the paltry amount that SOME of them might pay in taxes, and YES, Americans will do many of the same jobs. |

You should have started the process to become legal at 18. You did not so now you are illegal by your own choice. This does not make you any different that someone who as an adult came illegally. If as you say " I am grateful to this great nation who supported me and still supports me" then get legal. But handing out amnesty is not going to happen. |

Congratulations. You seem to be a very smart boy, who shows a lot of respect for this country and I wish you luck in your studies. However I am curious to know how did you make it through college since you are undocumented?
I hope you can get your paperwork straight and become a citizen someday! Do not give up and believe in yourself! |

Wow! That is a major accomplishment! Physics! You sound like a very smart guy. I wish you the best of luck! I totally understand your parents' reasons for coming here. I hope all works out for the best for you and your family. |

Of course you can't stereotype people, but in your case you are still breaking the law. While that wasn't originally your fault when you came here at 15, you are now old enough to do something about it.
That means you need to find a way to legally stay here or move back to Mexico. I actually wish that you find a legal way to stay personally, but there is no reason to continue to break the law in this case. If nothing else works, you can always just marry some American girl, but there are probably other ways to legally stay here as well. |

It's great that you are doing well, however you are still undocumented. There is a right way to come here, and being here illegally is against the law. The other problem is that you won't be able to get a job without a social security number. |

Your family was not "obligated" to come here. They snuck across the border ignoring the laws of our country.
That "launch" that you speak off was still paid for by the taxpayers. A school LUNCH cost at least $2.00 a day. That means that my tax dollar paid $1.50 a day for you to eat. Multiply that by the amount of days you attended school for all those years.
I don't care how smart you think you are. You are here as an adult breaking our immigration laws. And yes,I am sure our government is still supporting you. |

Bussey- that was really well said!!!
Now what do you want? You want everyone to say that you are an exception to the rules because you are a good student? What is wrong with you? You are extremely arrogant & entitled. Not unlike the illegal Mexicans I used to work with. Who is paying for your college?
I'm sorry your parents were so irresponsible & broke the law by bringing you here illegally. But now that you are an adult you need to make a decision of how you are going to make it right.
Or you could just wait & let our sorry a$$ president "fix" it for you. Since that is what he wants to do. |
