The red ribbon goes on a certificate that's made up by the State Department to show the US has no objection to the marriage of its citizen to a Vietnamese citizen. judging by the hat on your avatar, that's what you are. It's not a normal document submitted with all K-1 petitions, which is why the other folks have no idea what you're talking about. It's not a document that the US government normally issues at all, because it's not a US requirement. They put the form together to meet the Vietnamese requirement. As for what to do with the ribbon, keep it with the rest of the documents submitted with the paperwork. |

I don't think people are trying to be smart, I have been through a variety of immigration procedures and I have never heard of this "red ribbon" you speak of. Is it something specific to your country of origin? Is it a document?

is your fiancee a Filipina? (sorry to ask you that)...Red ribbon also means that all her papers (birth certifcate,baptismal etc) is authenticated & is original. All she have to do is keep those papers until she is ready to send it to you for further application..red ribbons normally last for 6 months.I hope that helps :) |
