I am in favor of legal immigrants. I am opposed to illegal immigrants. This nation was built by LEGAL immigrants, people who followed the proper procedure to come here and become citizens. There is nothing 'racist' about wanting illegals to leave, they are not supposed to be here in the first place. That is why they are called 'illegal'! |

i have on prob with people wanting to come to this country, what is a problem is there our government, taking the security crap, has no clue who is coming . Sure let people in,but we have to keep on eye on our borders, you can dive a truck with a nuke in it and the Homeland clowns will have no clue |

According to the Census Bureau, of the 2.8 million new Americans this year, 1.12 million of them (40%) are legal immigrants. If I had the means, I'd personally welcome every one of them. I do have trouble with people attempting to get in illegally. How can we trust people to be good citizens when the very act that brought them here was flaunting the laws we have in place? If they get in line like everyone else and wait their turn, I will be just as welcoming. |

I have a big problem with illegal immigrants. We have good reason for limiting poor immigrants since we pay for education and benefits for poor people, and bringing in more than those programs can handle ruins our schools and programs for our own people.
However, under reasonable immigration limits, I have no problem with legal immigrants. I like some, I don't like some, just like with any other groups of people. |

I dont mind legal immigrant, but I dont care much for illegal immigrants.
Its admirable when a person proves themselves before entering this country by passing our standards.
Ive have had to work with illegals, and it made the relationshipat my work really timid. I was worried about complaining about my employer breaking osha rules because I might be fired. |

I have no problem with people immigrating here to live the american dream;legally.the problem is that the u.s. is losing the war on illegal immigration .many people think that all illegal aliens are trouble,when in fact these are the same people building new homes,new schools and the roads you drive on.am i defending them-no because i know that some are criminals,and they are here illegally but dont label all of them as bad, they want the american dream too.they just need to do things the right way. |

There's nothing wrong with legal lawful immigration at all.Its the criminal act of the illegal alien that is the problem..
I am a native born American ,not a mongrel,it seems you are the cur as you are far more mixed with other races than I am.My ancestors came to the New World in 1702 and all my ancestors after 1702 are NATIVE BORN Americans....Indians are not indigenous to this country having migrated from other Continents.There were no immigration laws in this country concerning mass invigoration until 1924,before that there were only a few exclusionary laws.Perhaps you need to get off that sad old untrue argument about the Indian being the only true American because you are showing your lack of education.Don't believe in myths,they aren't true.
This is my country paid for with the blood of my ancestors and I am a true American,just like all the other native born Americans. |

How can we all be so quick to call people illegal immigrants. We have all forgoten that all or rather most of the people living in the US are illegal. Unless you are 100% Native American don't you feel as tho you are some what illegal. Just because we meaning the white race fought a war against the Indians and ran them off of there own land do we feel like that is legal? We stole this land from others. I agree that it is not fair for others not to pay taxes and get special treatment due to there ethnic background or what have you. But at the same time we need to think what goes around comes around and that is what is happening to us now. |

Unless you are an American Indian, your family was once immigrants. That is what makes this country different from others. Anyone has an opportunity to come here and improve their lives. However, the illegal immigrants need to get in line with the others who are playing by the rules. |

I have no problem with anyone coming to America especially since my race was forced to come here and now we're not wanted.
However I do think that people coming here illegally is crushing the economy, they make money off the books and then send the money straight out of the country. They shop amongst themselves, etc. Therefor the American dollar is losing it's net worth. My second issue is that we definitely don't want criminals from other countries coming here we have our own.
The third and last issue is, it's kind of okay but geez too many at once - NC is over populated with people of other countries, especially Hispanic countries and my job wants me to learn Spanish - fk that.
It's becoming annoying I feel like an outsider in my neighborhood and I was born here, go figure. |

even if you are american indian you are still an immigrant. DNA shows a lot of asian genetic code in the Native americans. America is the country of immigrants, the only differences is legal-illegal and what generation.
I use to be first generation legal immigrant, now I'm a New American and proud of it. I forever will speak with an accent, but I speak english and read and write (maybe not as good as born here tough). America gave me home and love of the mother where my original homeland treated me as an orphan. |

The migration of people is not a new phenomenon. For as long as we have been able to travel far and wide...guess what we have! The large majority of Americans are descended from people who did just that.
The problem that people have with immigration in the U.S. is the extent to which newcomers ought to assimilate in their adopted homeland. To solve this dilemma we need to have better understanding of what culture is? Is it just language? In which case, how do people who live in countries with more than one language spoken/learnt identify themselves. In Switzerland for example, most people speak German, French and some Italian. Do they consider themselves less Swiss if you are more fluent in French rather than in German? Of course not!
So what is American culture? The land of "pizza", "pasta", "smorgasboard", "french fries", "latte" , to name but a few things, in our vocabulary, diet and daily lives. Clearly the migration of people has greatly influenced how this culture has developed....why do we think that evolutionary process will suddenly stop?????
People want to use the recent issues of illegality as the argument agst immigration and that is just plain ludicrous.......do people even realize that from the first set of immigration laws in 1790 until the late 1800'S going into the early 1900'S, IMMIGRATION WAS RESERVED ONLY FOR WHITE PEOPLE.....no other racial/ethnic group could legally emigrate to this country since their entry was restricted so pardon me if your European ancestors "immigrated legally"........not everyone had the same opportunities !!! |

I have no problem with immigrants coming to this country but I think they should have to live by the same rules the rest of us do. This country was made by a bunch of immigrants coming here. But the fact that they don't have to pay taxes and they don't have to pay for their medical care is ridiculous. |

The USA was built by blue collar workers from Europe, and in the case of the railways, many from China. It was not built by the Aisian Indians who are not migrating in huge waves. These people, some with advanced degrees do not integrate, and their offspring, relatives etc. will eventually become the welfare recipients, the criminals, the corrupter of our morals. Look at what has happened in Canada (Toronto), UK (all over) and is happening in Australia. Our children will wonder why we allowed ourselves to be colonized. India is a corrupt slum, if these people are so smart, so hard working, then they should try to change India, not come to the USA for an easy ride. |
