Criminals, drug users, drug runners, rapist, murders can't qualify for a green card so they enter illegally, commit more crimes, steal property, destroy personal property, litter our streets. Them complain that we discriminate against them.

I'm sick and tired of them, arrest the illegal aliens, they are criminals violating USA laws, deport them! Do It Now!

I hate to say it, but it's easier for people from Europe to immigrate here than it is for Mexicans. Mexico is a poor country with little resources for the average citizen, and so they all want to come here. The problem is that they want it NOW, and aren't willing to work for it, so they jump the fence or swim the river or whatever else they do to get here. They aren't very well educated, so they have to settle for the jobs that don't require complex skills.
Honestly, I am undecided on the Mexican immigration thing. I know they are people just like us, but it seems to me that a lot of them take advantage of our system, and have babies just for the sake of amnesty, and then end up on our welfare rosters. Some don't even bother trying to learn English, instead insisting that we accomodate their language and social shortcomings. I could go on, but I won't.........

What it boils down to is that Europeans are more educated and socially aware, and seen as more of an asset to our culture and economy than Mexicans are. Therefore it is easier for them to get approval when applying for immigration/citizenship status here.

And it's always 'the Mexicans'. I understand that most illegal immigrants come from Mexico, but the whole thing about blaming only Mexicans is starting to get annoying.

Who told you that all Mexicans are here illegally? I was born in Mexico. I came here legally and I'm right now a U.S. citizen (so I can't really call myself Mexican anymore ). You can't go around classifying all people in a single category (if you know what I mean).

Do I think it is fair? No, I don't think it is. I went through the process; I know how long it is. However I don't think that deporting millions of people and separating families is the right thing to do. Also, I could write a thousand or maybe even millions of things that I don't think are fair. But guess what? No one ever told me life was fair.
Maybe if you were in their position you would have done the same thing.

it's a matter of accessiblity and that employers are quick to hire them as illegals... why do thing' the legal way when there's an easier way without the hassel?
and who care's how you applied? good for you, i guess. wanna cookie? maybe some milk with that cookie?

It isn't that easy, and a lot of them wouldn't be allowed in. Therefore they get in the only way they know how to. It's all in the best intentions at first, just trying to better their own lives, but they also don't take into consideration how it's affecting the citizens themselves. Maybe if everyone took time to empathize with everyone else's feelings things would have a better solution. Perhaps our government and mexico's could come to some form of an agreement in which all parties benefit, citizens and government alike on both sides.

I would learn more about immigration laws before I made a question like that. Do you think that if it was as easy as go to an immigration office and ask for a green card, all Mexicans would be legal now? If they come illegaly it's because the system is too expensive, takes too long, and it's too risky (with about 80% chance they will deny you).

If it were only that easy... A lot of immigrants are denied access to the US legally because of prevailing racism. Sure we'll take you Ms. Whitey from Belgium Ms. Europe where we started out from, but Mr. Brownskin from Mexico over there has to stay out... It's not fair, it stinks and no one seems to really be doing anything about it. I don't like that people come here illegally but their life sure it A LOT better once they get here... and NO it's ISN'T fair to those who went through the proper channels but many more are turned away than accepted!

What would you do if you couldn't find work? If your family was starving? If you couldn't keep a roof over your head or clothing on your families back? And the land of wealth, opportunity and freedom was your next door neighbor?..... I'm not saying all of them had it this bad... but a lot of them come close to it. Crossing into the US illegally is the least of their worries...

We're all so damned white and privileged in the US that we can't even stop to think about what it might like to be poor and living in another nation....

It's easier for people from countries other that Mexico to receive a green card. My daughter in law is from Belgium and when they decided to live here permanently they talked with immigration who said she would have to return to Belgium and reapply for a new visa even though they were already married. It was easier for her to overstay her visa then report to immigration and in less that a year she had a work permit, and now has a resident card. My husband who is from Mexico has been waiting over 3 years and we still haven't received a work permit for him. We originally applied 3 years ago and have paid thousands of dollars and our case is "still pending". It's all a money game.
