i have just applied to buy a house(3 weeks ago) for my daughter (in my name)
and I was asked for a social security proof among others papers,I did have all I needed and was approved, but since you are not a legal resident? i doubt many will take your application.
I am a US citizen,
so? you can try but most loaners will ask for proof of legal residency, unless you have the cash?
and if you are illegal? what about job proof? you cannot bring any documentation...

You do not need a green card to buy a house. Foreigners buy homes here all the time. You do need a stable source of income and would probably require a hefty down payment in the range of 20% to 30%.
You should open a bank account first. They will process what is called a TIN unless you already have a Social Security number. Call any bank to talk to a loan manager. |
