I have written my officials to no avail? Why don't they move on the issue of illegals?

The politicians (ALL politicians) get campaign money from businesses. That is a fact.

Business like cheap labor. That is a fact.

Illegals work cheap. That is a fact.

Is it so much of a reach to say that the politicians might be getting higher campaign donations by giving the businesses cheap labor? Maybe.

same reason they wont stop an embargo on foreign goods. Too scared they'll piss off somebody somewhere. So they do nothing and hope it will go away. Everyone seems to be angry at the wrong people here! Illegals are doing what they have been allowed to do by our government. Elected officials don't do anything to stop this growing out of control problem because they are happily pocketing a whole lot of money. They are getting money from taxes collected from undocumented workers, they are getting money from the companies that get to benefit from cheap labor, etc.

It's big business. Forget about it. I hope you don't think this country is ruled by democracy. Let me put it this way - if each dollar counts as one vote, how many votes do you have? Somebody with a lot more votes than you has voted that they get to keep coming in and going to work for him. "Your" elected officials respond to the green vote.

I agree 100%... Politics that do not listen should be banned from goverment activities and placed in prison... Thats kind of corupt for them to take money instead of doing the right thing.

I hate to say it but all of the responses have hit the nail on the head......the Mexicans do work hard and cheap and the government just loves that. They can have them doing all the nastiness here in America they (the American Corporations) couldn't get away with across the border. We live in a corupt world and it's not going to change until we all get together and get heard. Something must change and soon.

Because the corporations today & the administration are the bestest of friends-and the corporations love that cheap labor! The only way you'll appeal to them is to find it in their best financial interests. Maybe we could train US citizens to find oil while they work....

I will be adding this question to my watch list, because you are going to stir up so many people. I am not sure I agree with all what you are suggesting. As a people we need let our elected officials know that they work for us. This can only be done by not re-electing them. I know this seems hard. Become politically activity in your community in a positive constructive way. Earn influence over your peers. One person will not be effective when dealing with politicians. A whole town will.

You'll just have to face it, the hispanic vote in this country has become far too valuable for either party to compromise.

We like to believe that politicians are as concerned as we are when it comes to salient issues like this, but at the end of the day it comes down to winning elections.

They all need to be deported. I could not believe it when those meat plants were raided and they're crying "racism" when they are the criminals who stole or bought identities/social security numbers from real American citizens. It's OK for them to steal from someone, ruin their life and credit, yet it's "racist" for them to get arrested. Unfortunately, I think the problem will only get worse because President Bush doesn't really give a crap about it and besides, he's in bed with the Mexican government. The whole thing is just sickening. The U.S. is turning into a third world country.

Until the democrats reform campaign donations and lobbying (GOP had 8 years to do it) . . you will never see them do what is best for the American people.

Finally, you must realize that Hispanics and Latinos are the fastest growing portion of the population in the US. They are becoming a political force. Acting against them would be political suicide.

They do not want to clear up the border! Bush wants no borders with Mexico or Canada! There will be no United States Of America when he gets through with us! If this is not what you want best to yell louder until somebody listens because these guys are hell bent on doing what THEY want, not what you want!
As an American and a patriotic one, I think we need to make so much noise that they will have no choice but to listen! It will have to be a demonstration that will get the attention of the media( who is also biased). Writing is not going to be enough and I know Texas is overburdened with illegals because my brother lives there and says the school taxes and property taxes are going up and are way too high! He says that because of the influx of illegals, we have more overcrowding in our schools and since they refuse to speak English we have to hire more Spanish speaking instructors. It is a real mess! The taxpayer is loaded down! Man, why don't we have military on our borders? One word...............Bush!
