First what is your status there in the US? If your are one of those illegal immigrants you need to return home or get yourself a lawyer to have your status adjusted. If your are a legal immigrant: To apply for a Birth certificate, you must be 1. The owner of the birth certificate or 2. a parent or guardian of the owner of the birt certificate. Applicants of a free birth certificate must attach a copy of their valid government issued ID of the owner of the certificate. Applications must be completed in full and signed by the applicant. Applications must be placed in a sealed envelope addressed to Registrar General's Department, Ministry of legal Affairs, and sent in one of the following ways. Posted to Registration House, 72-74 South Quay, Port of Spain Trinidad Tel# 624 1660 or drop it off at the said department in port of spain.Delivery to your postal address is free , but on delivery the person receiving the certificate must present a valid form of Government issued ID.In the event that any of your names are spelt incorrectly they will return to you, a letter stating any discrepancies and you will be expected to give a supporting Affidavits. You will also be expected to come in person to the office for them to rectify the matter with you. Also you will need to bring along the said letter with any previous copy of the required birth certificate which you mat have in your possession.. |
