I already did the Biometrics and I filed all the neccessary paper work.

That sometime happens because they are processed separately by different offices. You can make an Infopass appointment about your work permit to inquire about the status.But if your I-485 interview is coming up soon and you get approved, you will not need the work permit afterall since you will have your green card.

It is not abnormal. They get processed independently. The EAD, while not a requirement, is in place to give you permission to work while you wait for your green card.
