I believe I'd read the article prior to having seen it on this magazine cover. It was about a girl who was killed and who had been having issues with her SO. They have him as a suspect in the murder. Do you believe that the laws in the US do enough to protect the citizens? Do you believe that they allow for men to be too violent toward women still? Is there any way that they could change the laws so that women are more protected and able to go to the government for protection in these types of situations?
I ask this question because I have been in a similar scenario. My husband has been abusive and he threatens to kill me. I believe he actually has killed people before, he was in the war so I'm not sure if it was there or some other place. If I go to the government with this information, I believe it should be enough for me to get a restraining order. If at any time I've received death threats from this man and I choose to seek a restraining order, I think it should be a problem. However, because I had done so after an assault, and I never followed through with a permanent restraining order, I was told that I have to wait for another incident to occur. If I have to wait for another incident to occur, he may make the next incident the last. I'd have to go and plead my case to the judge and it is still possible that the judge may decide not to help me in this situation for having missed my court hearing the first time. Ummm...SURPRISE! I've been going through some trouble with trying to find a safe place to live and some way to support myself without his or my own family's help. I'm sorry if I was unable to put that court hearing as a priority! Either way, how do you feel about this situation?

I feel that any competent judge will award this to you. Go for it. If he comes after you, you have a right to use deadly force to protect yourself. Go take a GOOD concealed carry class and buy a nice pistol. Compact 9mm would be perfect. |
