i started my` work just 7 months ago in usa as a legal resident.

i am talking about short term disablity ..

40 quarters is nonsense; you must have earned at least $300 from which SDI deductions were withheld during a previous period.

No, you are not. I believe you have to have 40 quarters of work in, or ten years, before you would be eligible to get it.
