My fiance is from Brazil and will be coming over later this year to study on a tourist visa. We want to get married while she is here and everything I have read indicates that you must do it right or it is a problem. She is not trying to become a resident, we just want our marriage recognized both here and in other countries for if we decide to settle somewhere later. I am aware of the K1 Visa. She would not be coming in on that type of visa initially.

Getting married while in the US will not cause her any problems as long as she abides by the rules of what ever visa she uses to enter the country. If her tourist visa says she has to leave after a year, she has to leave after a year, married or not.
Marriage does nothing to change a person's immigration status unless you specifically take action to try and change status based on the marriage, and even then the important factor is the status of the non-US national at the time of application (i.e what visa they are currently on). |

First of all, she cannot study on Tourist visa. She must have F1 Student visa. Once she holds F1, you can get married. And you decide to file green card for her, then you can.
