I want to move to America from Canada...?

What are the steps I have to take?
To let you know a little more about the situation..
I met a man just a few towns away in America. We have been together almost 2 years and in the meantime got pregnant and now have a beautiful 3 month old son. He lost his job in the town he was in so moved to New Jersey which is 15 hours away from me. It is harder to see each other, which is why I want to move. He can support us, he has a house and a well paying job, so that isn't an issue. Thing is I have a daughter from a past relationship who I do have custody of.
How would I approach this situation as for getting a visa?

Simple.... It's called MARRIAGE.

The two of you get married and it's relatively simple for you and your daughter from the past relationship to move to the United States to live and work.

His child should have US citizenship, if not, he needs to register his birth with the US embassy in Ottawa or any US consulate in Canada. Once he registers him the child will get a US passport, US Social Security Card and a Consular Birth Certificate showing the child's US citizenship. Since this is your child, born in Canada, he'll have Canadian citizenship too.... dual citizenship.

My daughter moved to the USA 15 years ago easily she was coming out of nursing school and back then there was no job in Canada for her, so an agency who came to Canada at a job fair contacted her and she was hired right away.If you have any medical training as a nurse or in home care that is one way to get a working visa. But first and foremost you mentioned a daughter which I will presume is a Canadian and even if you have custody if her father as visiting rights you can't take her across the border without his written permission for any length of time as it will be viewed as kidnapping. My daughter has been married for 10 years to a US citizen they have two boys and when ever she travels to Canada by herself with the kids her husband has to give her a notarize letter saying that it is okay for her to take the kids across the border for ten days or how ever long she is visiting for, both side of the border are very strict when it come to travelling from one country to another with kids and they are justified in doing so. Your best option I think would be to get in contact with the US immigration to find out exactly what the requirements would be because of the fact that you have a son with that man which you don't say but I will also presume is a US citizen. Your biggest hurdle might be the fact that you want to take your daughter and move with her across the border it all depends on how much involvement her father has or wants in her life. Dealing with immigration takes a long time so my advice to you is to start the ball rolling as soon as possible if you want to go ahead with this.Good luck

He has to apply for a K1 visa so you can come in and get married to him. He should see an immigration consultant with experience in this area.

i am engaged to some one who lives in richmond va and i have 2 kids and we live in canada and my soon is almost 10 yrs old never met his birth dad( no custody ) and my daughter is 3 1/2 and i have full custody of here as of august 2008 and its been almost a year since he has seen her last and my fiancee wants us to move there and adopt my children :)what do i do how can i leave canada and would i need there permission
