You do not need any invitation letter.
Letters like that are considered suspect because they usually imply that the visitor will NOT leave.

You DO need to show ties to your home country and show proof that you WILL LEAVE canada at the end of your visit.- proof includes a ROUND TRIP ticket and copies of your mortgage/lease agreement, and a letter from the boss saying when you are due back at work.

If you do NOT or rent a home, and have no job, you WILL be DENIED a visitor visa.
