I was harassed at the JFK airport coming back home?

I am naturalized and double citizen for years. I just came home(US) after 3 weeks family visit from my birth country with my American passport and I was "invited" to the office for questioning. The officer was very rude and yelled at me loudly . My whole immigration history was in the computer and he asked me questions about this, like he cross examined me.Later I was let go, but I am still under shock.The officer has no name tag and I didn't have to sign anything like this never happened.Before you make conclusion; I am white, decent looking, middle aged women from Europe. I was so ashamed and I was advised outside the office to seek a lawyer ASAP and make a case against them.It's been clear and reported they are making a lot of mistakes lately even with born citizens.
What should I do? Thank you in advance!

Cali: this is why I wrote at first "I am white..etc"because I know how they hate Eastern people.

Personally I would make a huge stink about it. I would contact an attorney, plus the media, local and national. If they are indeed harassing legal citizens, then someone needs to draw attention to them. Unless they are put in the spot light they will continue to do this.
I will say this though, it is not unreasonable for customs/immigration to question someone in a reasonable manner. But not to the extend it sounds like they did you.
You will proceed in the manner that best fits you, your personality and beliefs. I personally believe one person can make a change.

You should be greatful for being safe and thankful these folks were doing their jobs. Imagine what your outrage would be had these "rude" officers not questioned a real threat to your area and people were killed.... I imagine you would be ashamed our government did not do its job then too huh? The fact is, the man did his job and you were correctly let go. I wonder how many people are illegally traveling in and out of this country as they see fit!

Just let it go. You were in the office so there was no public embarrassment and frankly it would be your word against his.
(I really don't understand what being "white, decent looking, middle aged women from Europe" has to do with it unless you are saying that the actions taken would have been justified if you had been non-white, young, ugly, and from another continent).

I also travel very often and at times,you do run into an officer that forgot to let the air come into his tight brain,and takes his job to extremes,
if you are middle age person? you should know that you do run into rude and obnoxious people everywhere you go.
just take it as as another day in this world,and let it go,enjoy life and forget this incident.

Ashamed-Why? You could be annoyed but no reason to be ashamed.
What should you do? File a complaint with the proper authorities and then go on with your life

Well I could see if they caused you to miss your flight, but they are just doing their job. Customs and Immigration aren't the most warm people to begin with... I hate going thru and I was born in the US and have always been a citizen. They are cold and scary people.... so I really don't think they were out of character, but they really are just doing their job... think about the other people who have been in the same situation. They are only trying to protect the country..... I honestly don't think you have anything to complain about, besides being inconvenienced and upset. I'm not trying to make your predicament sound juvenile, but really... many others go thru the same thing... sometimes worse.... so you should just let it go and be thankful they are making sure the wrong people aren't getting in.

Why didn't you make a complaint AT THE TIME to the agency? There's no reason not to do so now. This is where I would start. The folks at the airport report to someone, find out who and begin there. I don't think there's a problem with being asked to talk to someone in immigration. I do think its a problem for the person to be rude to you.

BTW, I don't understand feeling "ashamed". I would be ANNOYED.
