I'm an American who travels yearly to visit my family but now i'm required to have a passport to travel to Mexico.

It will cost just under a 100. dollars, you can get a border crossing permit for 25.00 but it is only good if you don't fly (for flying you must have a passport). You apply for the card with the same application as your passport, ask your local post office for one. Phoenix right now is between 4-6 weeks wait, don't wait until close to the cut off date (June1 2009) or it may take much longer. |

You have to apply in person at any main branch of the post office. It costs around $90 and you need TWO photos that are made specifically to go on passports. It takes around 3 months to get the passport once you apply, but you can pay extra for "rush" service. |
