Feb. 2011 for 5 year requirement
Feb. 2009 for 3 year requirement, if you obtained green card through marriage to US Citizen.
(90 days prior to 3rd year or 5th year anniversary of your green card approval date is the first day you can apply)

Depends on how you qualified for your green card. If you got your green card through marriage, you need to wait 3 years before you can apply for citizenship. So if you got you GC in May 2006 you are eligible for citizenship in May 2009. But you can file the forms up to 90 days in advance, so let's say you got your GC (Through marriage) on May 15th 2006, your 3 year anniversary is on May 15th, 2009. 90 days before that date, which is approx Feb 15th 2009 you can send in your paperwork for naturalization. If you got your green card some other way - family member (other than spouse) or employment you have to wait 5 years. Using the same dates, GC issued on May 15th, 2006, 5 year anniversary is May 15th 2011, first possible filing date is Feb 15th, 2011.

Hope this helps - just remember it is not the date that you filed for your green card that counts, but the ate your green card was issued.

In February 2011, it doesn't matter when you applied.

If your green card was through marriage, you can apply 3 years after the date on your card, provided you are still married to the same spouse.

If you got your green card through another means, then it's 5 years from the date on the card.

You can apply 90 days prior to the anniversary date.
