I'm going to say that this situation is highly suspicious, and a family member is planning on marrying a Nigerian man but I am worried. He lives here in the US and says hes on a Visa and can stay here. He swears hes only 25. He says he has a Bachelors degree. And he says he's single.
While the situation was suspicious from the start, my family and I left a tiny possibility that we were reading into our preconvceived notions about the situation. But a recent occurance of events has led me to believe stronger than ever that something is just not right. I believe he has someone else in his life besides my family member. He won't let her post her engagement on Facebook. Among other issues...
SO anyways...how can I confirm these things about him? I'm sure most of it is protected information but I am hoping to even find one piece of information that will prove he's a liar. I'm not paying for a Private Investagator, but I would like to try and help my family member as much as possible on my own. I would really appreciate any advice you could give.
Keep in mind, hes already here in the US, working and she's met him a handful of times on his ground.

oops I meant "single" as in not married or in a relationship with someone other than my family member.

Tell her to just go ahead and change her status to engaged on Facebook and see what happens
Also tell him that she needs to start the paperwork process to sponsor him as a spouse so she needs a copy of the picture page of his passport as well as his visa page to bring to her lawyer so he can start working on everything. If he refuses, you know he's hiding something
Also call the HR department of his company and say that you are calling from X Bank and need want to verify that he is in full time employment and that they are sponsoring him for his work visa and see what they say |

there's not way you can confirm his dirty lies. But you can however slap your family member until she see's the light.
Plus lots of dirty looks and unkind words will help that Nigerian move on
Or
you can go with plan B like most do and dont do anything and talk big |

Legal presence and marital status of person in the US can be verified quite easily. Does he have a work permit (employment authorization document) or green card, drivers' license, social security card, passport, birth certificate...

"Easily", not so much. Mostly because of jokers like that guy. In any case, the US citizen spouse must petition for him, no exceptions. |
