i agree this poster was idiotic and does not know the laws of the United States concerning immigration....i also know about illegals paying taxes, if they work the taxes are taken out of their pay in advance just like everyone else...they just don't get to file and get their money back or claim their SS money, I would think that the United States would not want to stop illegals because they are the biggest source of unclaimed social security money and income tax money the government has.. on the other hand it is just as hard to immigrate to every other country in the world..legally...but other countries don't have as big a problem with illegals because everybody doesn't want to go to other countries they just want to go to the United States.

I would like to point out that almost all countries with somewhat flourishing economies have immigration problems, why do you think there exists a thing called a visa? I am an immigrant to Canada and I followed all the rules to the letter so, yes, I am here legally. What you don't seem to understand in the US, though, is that these people probably DON'T want to come to the US. Why would they want to leave their families and the country they know to come to a country where they are discriminated against and used as cheap labour? Well, they want (and need) to feed their families. I think the way to address the illegal immigration problem in the States (from Mexico) is to empower Mexico and help the country become an economic powerhouse. I bet that would reduce the problem enormously. It would improve the whole region's economic stability and allow people the freedom to live a relatively normal life. This is, obviously, over simplistic but would be a start.
