Find answers to your legal question.

If 93% of americans have no passports and never leave the country?

and all they know about the outside world is through fox news etc how can they comment on world affairs and other countries peoples. i am well travelled and only learned about other countries through travel
Additional Details
we are not talking about canada 40% of americans don't know where canada is

i know but you don't
I advice the americans to learn and read, and please push your kids to learn about everything and different things, the world is not america, the world is huge, think outside the box, we don't learn just because that may help us finding a job or doing something else. I met americans that they don't know anything, and i met ones that they know , but the last type of people are few, most of them are the ones who traveled before.

Your first point is a good one. Your second is terrible. I've learned a great deal about many countries through travel, but unless you're the Secretary of State, you're not traveling enough and learning enough in the process to comment on world affairs without reading a decent international newspaper on a regular basis and generally seeking out information through other means.

I am a somewhat recent veteran of the US military. Upon leaving the military I took up trucking for 2 years; which gave me access to all of Canada and introduced me to Mexican Nationals as we swapped trailers of goods. I have left this country and entered other countries many times since the age of 4. I do not have a passport and have traveled the world more than most octogenarians. I've been to Europe, Canada and Asia (including, but not limited to, southeast Asia) and have met and befriended many people from differing cultures-- all without a passport. There are lots of people just like me.

So, basically what you are saying is that people should not make assumptions, but your question is basically just full of assumptions about other people.

I have a passport and have traveled. I also spent five years working Customs at an airport interacting with and talking to people from all over the world. I watch the news (several stations, not just one), read newspapers and scour the internet. Yes traveling the world is an excellent way to learn about other cultures but it is not the only way. So please don't make assumptions about other people.

Your figures seem to be a bit off!

Passport ownership in US and Canada
2005 Survey Results United States Canada
General population (18 years and over) 34% 41%
Same-day travellers (transborder) 44% 60%
Overnight auto travellers (transborder) 50% 70%
Overnight air travellers (transborder) 67% 75%
The percentages of passport holders among those who travel between the two countries might help to make better comparisons with Europeans travelling between countries. (21 Nov 2005)
It has increased greatly since that time but the government isn't talking!

I know that more than 7% of Americans have passports.

We judge them by the ones that are here. And quite a few aren't leaving a very good impression.

Well, your travels haven't improved your grammar.
