If Mexicans are so proud, why are they so quick to flee their own country?

For them, living in the USA is freebie heaven. It doesn't matter what they have to do to get in on the give-aways.
Once their friends sneak over and find non-taxable work and spread the word that babies are are valued citizens, these people realize a hot commodity when they're told.

I'm not a racist, cuz I'm half Native American and half Mexican, but I think that poeple who come here illegally shouldn't ask for rights, in which they are not entitled to, to begin with. And I somewhat agree, if it's Mexico that has problems with their gov't, then why not try to change it, not the United States to fit yur conquest towards equal rights. Believe me, I'm half mexican, so I think I have the right to say this, and not have it thrown back in my face as a racist or that I have my back turned towards my people. this is a question I have been asking for sometime and always get socked with a violation. illegal mexicans do not like to hear this question and apparently a sore subject with them because i think they know they have taken the easy way out in wanting american anglo and black taxpayers to support them. they are partly responsible for the mess they made in mexico and just do not want to own up to it. Earley american settlers kicked the english out and fought for the success we have in amercia today and tamed a hostile country and now the illegal mexicans want to ride our coat-tails for a better life. This is not a racist remark - only an eyewitness observation from someone who has worked in the international marketplace. The truth of the matter is that the ruling class in Mexico is white of Spanish descent. They look down upon and would like to push out, the Mexicans of indian heritage (dark, squatty, flat-faced, etc.) It's almost like Apartheid was in South Africa.

I've begun to wonder if their own country isn't suffering as much from their presence as we are.

"Especially if they're pregnant".... a very good point! I watch teen moms by the hundreds per day pushing a stroller (or double stroller) while carrying an infant and herding a couple more on foot.

Does anyone else wonder what will happen to these millions if food costs quadruple? (Food costs are tied to oil since all food is plowed, planted, irrigated, fertilized, harvested, etc, by machines consuming huge quantities of it and the fertilizer is a petroleum by-product.)

What is so demonic about waiting till you can afford a child before conceiving one?

To bring a child into a family with insufficient funds for living and then expecting everyone else to pay? That's like telling a kid to exit an airplane an hour before it lands and expecting the pilot to force an emergency landing. Why not just keep ones ducks in a row?

There is no other country so willing to give economic aid to other countries when they are in trouble. Look what we did in Kosovo, Somalia, etc.

It should, however, not be our job to feed and assist the entire 3rd world population which is out of control.

Mexicans should stay in Mexico if they don't wish to respect the rights of America's Citizens and laws. It doesn't get any more simple. They don't wish to fit in and assimilate into American culture, they wish to dominate.

Mexicans who leave Mexico are displaced into voluntary Exile and essentially have NO country. Their own country is doing everything it can to keep the traffic North going in the hopes that those Mexicans who leave, send our American dollars but never return to Mexico.

Well mexican's come here because in Mexico its crazy (in a good way) they rob and theres many gangs . some people come because theres good work here and in Mexico the goverment doesnt really or do anything about the problems in mexico.

Like the United States, Mexico has an immigration problem. While we deal with the dispossesed of Mexico, our neighbors to the south are taking in Guatemalans by the thousands because they are cheap labor and are not adverse to exploitation.
Cheap Guatemalan labor forces many Mexicans into unemployment within their country. How does the Mexican government (with the duplicity of the US) deal with this burden? By allowing its jobless citizens (and criminals who cannot get a job) to flee north. We are, essentially, Mexico's economic pressure release valve.

I don't think that Mexicans are not proud of their heritage, but they have come to realize that the pitfalls of illegally entering the US (like getting caught and released, hardly ever exported) are far outweighed by the positives (more money, a path to citizenship, ease of gaining social mobility, and the support groups for Mexican illegals).
The illegal immigration problem is due to the feigned ignorance of the Mexican government and the unwillingness of our national government to uphold one of the core tenets of its' Constitutional obligation....protecting our borders.
My observation is not designed to imply any xenophobic or ethnic paranoia, it is designed to remind everyone that in a time when we are targeted by many enemies, we have left our backdoor wide open. Can anyone be certain that the government knows who and, more importantly, what is coming across our southern border?

I'm an American of Spanish descent, and I feel terrible when I see what is really going on and not only in Mexico but El Salvador, Peru and Guatamala. I am against the Mexican government, not the Indigenous people who are being discriminated against by EVERYONE, and unlike other people I actually care.

With all due respect I donÂ´t think that you understand the Latin American culture. The proud Mexicans are those who are born into the upper classes,are virtually guaranteed a comfortable way of life and have no desire to travel to the US except as tourists.The ones who risk their lives trying to get into the US are the lowest ones on the totem pole and if you look at them you will see that many of them have a lot of Indian blood, in contrast to the upper class Mexicans.These poor people are not especially proud but they do want a better way of life than is offered in Mexico.

it might be a "quick" decision to you but i am sure its very difficult to leave your family and travel to a strange country, besides most return home to their families, the only ones that stay here are ones that actualy have setteld down here which is usualy not their original plan. and even for those people many are very homesick and miss mexico, and eventualy go back to stay there. also if you do not want mexicans to come here then give up the facad of this being a wonderful country cuz lets face it with the way we treat them its about the same as them liveing in mexico at the moment anyway we treat them pretty badly, so do your best to warn mexico about how bad the usa is going to treat them, that way you dont have to abuse them, and you will get fewer comeing here, by the way most have slowed or stopped comeing here, because of how badly the others are being treated here. i guess the skinheads won that one.

Some points:

1. Mexico has had problems for decades, of economic nature. I do not agree with the racist apartheid like view shared above. The thing is in Mexico we do not have the deep hate based in race that you find in the USA.
2. Salaries in Mexico are a little fraction of those in the USA. The economic incentive is enough to make people take the risk.
3. Mexicans go illegally because there is NO LEGAL WAY to do it. There is no fee to be paid, or another way to go in legally.
4. Mexicans do not enjoy a free ride in the USA. They work full time, and get paid less than residents do, doing things others do not want to do. It is a great business for USA agriculture, industry and commerce owners, paying illegals a fraction of the wages of others. And of course if they complaint they can always threat with calling the Migra...
5. In fact, without Mexican (and other alien) illegal workers USA agriculture would not prosper.
6. Has there been any US policy to deal with this? Instead of investing in Mexico, US capital has gone to China... a smart choice for such a preoccupied people about demography and stuff.
7. Families have been divided, making the human cost higher for immigrants. So the pregnant woman that you mention, was probably trying to join her spouse in the USA.

So, in a nutshell, this has nothing to do with pride.... it is out of necessity that people move. And the story is not as simple as some of you mention.

wow. I'm not mexican but I bet any mexican would tell you that they came here for a better life. Just because you have pride in your country doesn't mean its the best country around. you take pride in your heritage because it is what makes you who you are. Its your blood, you can't deny it.
I personally think that americans should help build mexicos infostructure more and help them get better jobs there. Get more cops more schools, thats what helps.Americans can't expect them not to come instead we have to help them, for god sake were one of if not the richest country. Saying that, Mexicans and all illegal immigrants for that matter need to realize we can't just keep letting people come in. Just because they do jobs to help us(farmers,construction workers, etc) doesn't mean that they can coming here illegally is justifyed.

Because unless you have money, then you can't do anything about it: just like in this country, money talks in Mexico. I just wish that the Mexican government would stop trying to be the United States "buddy" and change the government to a socialist one: that would actually benefit the people. If that were to happen, I would personally give my life to make my people go back to our own country!
