My FN property taxes. Last year for the emergency room down the hwy it was $800.00 and some change and this year they are raping me for an additional $88.00. This doesn't include the 1300.00 I pay for illegals to go to school in El Paso when I live in Houston. WTF |

Imagine how it is in Texas.
Many do not receive prenatal care and when they go into labor they go to the hospital and they can't refuse them. Then whoever goes to that hospital with cash or insurance will foot that bill.
EDIT: I see some people saying illegals can't get benefits. Correct (except in illegal cases) However a baby, no matter the parents status, that is born here is automically a citizen and IS eligible for medicaid and food stamps and a free education and their illegal parents are entitled to interpreters to explain how the free stuff works. |

Not only do they get medical care for free, the baby then becomes a u.s. citizen and the baby gets medicaid. This is a horrible system because there are many people like your sister who can't get benefits. Wish her luck in the future. |

I think if they are not a U.S. citizen then the hospital should put them on the first flight back to mexico ( it would be cheaper than giving them a free ride on the tax payers) so that they may give birth in thier own country. |

As to needing an interpreter: in a lot of cases you need to be bilingual to work in a welfare office, Hud office, etc. Where do these bilingual people come from? Most have at least ties to countries south of the border. Do certain people get preferential treatment in an office full of Hispanics? Think about it! |

Taxpayers. And most hospitals used have large amounts set aside for charity cases but the mexicans and other illegals have used it all and quite a few hospitals in the border states have closed.
That was an executive order from Bill Clinton - foreigners get interpreters to help them with welfare and criminal defense. |

Pitiful, but that is what our country has become. Everything and then some for the illegal aliens and crapola for its citizens. We are forced to cover their bills by higher bills we have to pay. There are many hospital that are closing because they cannot afford to operate losing money all the time on the illegals. |

youre misinformed. only documented workers are eligible for medicaid. the reason you got turned down for medicaid is because the republicans cut the budget. if you dont like it in the u.s. feel free to move to canada. they will give you healthcare. |

You should be happy she at least make a lot of money, while others are still trying to survive, PLUS have to deal with hatred from other human beings. That is really terrible. However, unless you want to go about changing the system (which would be great, but a long process), I would suggest that your sister look for a job that offers insurance for her needs. At Starbucks (after six months), even part-time workers are offered insurance. I think that while reform may be necessary, or amending of who can become a US citizen now that we are on the verge of being overpopulated.

OMG amen! Look I am a single white mother of 2 children and I went to try and get help because I wasn't receiving childsuport (oh and I work full time, so people knows that).....but anyways, I got turned down for any assistance! I would say that sitting in that lobby waiting was probably 90% Mexican, and the rest blacks and whites! Sounds like this country needs to get it straight! Heck we can't even get jobs anymore because the Mexicans has them all! Oh and I live in Georgia. I'm not trying to sound racist, but when I go to the grocery store and by the time I get to the end of the store to pay, all I have is about $25 dollars worth of stuff cause I can't afford anymore and this Mexican person is beside me with about 8 kids with 2 buggy's filled all the way to the top and then some under the buggy, come'on something is wrong here! Something needs to happen, oh and after giving you a long story and not answering your question, lol, I would say us tax payers are paying for it! Go figure!!! |

Actually, only the child (provided he or she is American) is eligible for Medicaid - unless, of course, the mother has some form of documentation as a SS # is required to apply and be approved for Medicaid. In the state of North Carolina, the maximum amount of income for a two person household is approximately $560.00 a week BEFORE taxes (like anyone could live on that in a 2+ person household once all the taxes are taken out). Therefore, if your sister makes more than $14 an hour, then she may as well hang up trying to get Medicaid - and THAT is Medicaid for a pregnant woman. It is even less for a woman who is not pregnant and has already had the child (in which case, the woman would most likely receive Carolina Access). The same applies to WIC (at the maximum earnings of $480 a week for 2 people) and food stamps (less even yet). North Carolina is simply ridiculous in what they feel people can live off of. They are using standards from a decade ago (when the cost of gas was but $1.06) with today's cost of living requirements.
As for who is paying for the hospital stay... it may be taken as a charity case, the bill adjusted if the patient is self-pay or eventually written off if the person never pays. |

You must run the Hospital's record department to know that the women applying are from Mexico, and they actually qualified for the benefits! Any Legal Immigrant from any country is eligible for these services....if they qualify, that's another story.
Needed Interpreters only creates more jobs for Americans.
And sense you place this question in the immigration section, it leads me to believe that you don't only think they are from Mexico, but you probably assume they are illegally in the country to!
