If all Immigrants are sent back to their country, will American College students want to do work in the Fields?

Now what makes you think ILLEGAL ALIENS "want" to do these jobs either? Most illegal aliens DON'T work in agriculture and have fled to less onerous better paying jobs such as Construction--and are heading back to the fields now that that's drying up.

Fact is, though, that about 30 percent of farm workers are Americans. You might also note that as foreign farmworkers have displaced Americans, farm wages have stagnated and 3/5 of farm families live in poverty. Much farm work these days can be mechanized or biologically improved so that stoop labor isn't needed. And if we didn't have illegal aliens and if by chance Americans didn't want to do this work, then I guess we'd just have to import more food from the rest of the world, such as the strawberries I recently bought from Chile.

The biggest lie is thinking that our immigrants do all the jobs that others won't do. that is totally false. I have seen many whites out in the fields also. Mexs take away tons of construction jobs that people of all races do. This has driven down the labor rates in these fields and has impacted our wages severely. Even the federal government has lowered prevailing wage rates because of it !!!!! Americans are getting screwed over !!!

It's not an immigrant problem, but an illegal EMPLOYER of illegal immigrants that is the problem. When employers are jailed or fined heavily for knowingly hiring ' illegals ', then there would NO more sneaking across the border for work that no longer exists for them. If the employers pay what is DESERVED for the back breaking labor, Americans would line up for the jobs. As long as a worker is " illegal", the employer will pay the very lowest wage they can get away with ! What job would you NOT do for $20 an hr.?

i'm sure there are americans that are willing to do these jobs but not enough to make the country runn properly without immigrants they are needed for the country to operate really

First: the vast majority of people are not saying to send any immigrants back to their country! Most people want to send back illegal aliens NOT immigrants. (My wife is an immigrant! She goes I go!)
Less than 2% of illegal aliens work in agriculture! They do not process enough food to feed themselves and the other 98% of illegal aliens! If we were to deport all the illegal aliens we would have MORE food!
Who do you think worked in the field before the criminals came here? Leprechauns? Imps? Fairies? Genies? After "operation *******" nobody starved to death in the US because of it!

where do you fools get your information that all Americans go to college and that no Americans would do the jobs that illegals do now. In fact it is not the responsibility of an illegal to decide what jobs Americans will or will not do you have no rights here and therefor have no say in what we do. You should all be rounded up and executed as illegals in a country at war

I doubt it but I think we'll see it eventually. Just because most Americans don't want that type of work doesn't mean we can allow immigration .......legal and illegal....to run amok. Think what our country would be if no laws existed. Chaos

What fields? We get over 70% of our food from other countries. It just means farm work would get automated like they did with tomatoes after the bracero program ended.

Blue collar workers have refused to do the work most Illegals do, and that's the reason why there's so many jobs for illegals. Now if blue collar Americans refuse, how can we possibley believe that educated Americans would when they are so use to having everything handed to them. These same people are raising their kids the wrong way to!

Many of these kids were raised to believe that they were "special" and now they consume a steady diet of "American Idol"-type reality shows where the right break, and the right amount of talent, can make you rich and famous overnight.

When they do show up in the workplace, many young people are - according to those who supervise them - notoriously tough to manage. They dress like slobs, question authority, shrug off criticism and impatiently wonder why, if they start in the mailroom on Monday, they're not on their way to being vice president by Friday.

Besides, I said, the MySpace generation has such high self-esteem that many of them would never debase themselves to take the hard and dirty jobs that go to illegal immigrants.
