i already filed a i130 for my husband i just recieved the recipt notice in the mail. i know that i heard the processing times for an i 130 is 6 months and 6 months as well for a k3 visa(i129) but i wan to file the k3 visa anyhow just so when 6 months comes around and his i130 is still pending he will be able to enter at that time with the k3 visa. so if i file this k3 visa will it affect the i 130 in any way shape or form? also i heard it may only take 3 months to get the i 130 approved is this so? and will it realy take 6 months for the k 3 visa? he is a citizen of mexico i am born u.s citizen married almost 2 years together for 7 years

I-130 is for either a CR-1 or an IR-1.
The I-130 and I-129F together are for the K-3.
It's faster to get a K-3. However, a K-3 is a non-immigrant visa. After arriving in the United States he needs to adjust status and that's expensive and time consuming.
After arriving on a CR-1 or a IR-1 nothing further needs to be done because they are immigrant visas. The green card comes in the mail within a month or two. |
