You're right LeighAnn. Or when you tell them that there are also thousands of illegals from other countries BESIDES MEXICO....they always say turn it around saying that Mexicans are the majority that's why they won't bash other nationalities. But if illegal is illegal then why not mention the millions of illegals combined from other countries that are also draining the system.
I thought illegal was illegal, not just illegal only if you're a Mexican. |

Americans who commit crimes and are caught, are punished. Punishment for illegals should be deportation. |

Its NOT okay for Americans to commit crimes. Legal American citizens should pay for their crime-whatever the punishment.
Good try though... |

Illegal IS illegal. A crime IS a crime. And who's making excuses for american citizens who are criminals?
They go to jail.
Illegal aliens should be deported.
Easy as pie, if you ask me . |

The people and government of America have overlooked this problem for too long. Now they can't afford to address it.
Everyone knows Abraham Lincoln's quote:
"A house divided against itself can not stand." which he got from the Bible.
Now imagine America as that same house but with a trench dug all the way around it's foundation.
Every one wants to get in this house because they see a chance at a good life. But before entering this house they take a small pick and hammer and knock just a little away from the foundation.
What has made America so great in such a short time is it was, like all culture, built on laws, regulations, borders and a common progress of it's people.
When you allow anyone to chip away at the foundation of a house or culture, i.e breaking the law. That house or culture can not stand. |

it dont matter if you come to the U.S, illegal then you need to be sent back the people who give them jobs and the landlords who rent to them should pay for them to be sent back. Then people say they do jobs we wont do thats B.S. I all so feel if they have kids over here they should not beable to stay here cause the ones making them dont belong here. |

You are right. Laws are laws. Anyone that chooses to break a law should be prepared to face the consequences of their actions. If someone runs a red light and gets caught, they get a ticket. If someone robs a bank and gets caught, they serve time. If someone enters the country illegally and gets caught, they should be deported. |

if they want equal rights that's OK, they broke the law, count every day illegal is in USA, add up as separate criminal count, lock them up. let them do their time. that is equal RIGHTS! |

Sure, they are already here. Sunk costs, so to speak. We don't want more than we already have. |

Criminals are criminals and should be punished accordingly. Illegals fall into a special category because they do not belong here and are an added burden especially when they then commit a crime which adds to our allready overcrowded prisons . We do not need to support another countries problem citizens and also do not need to support the burden of the illiterate and poor. I am not being mean or selfish but there has to be a line drawn in the sand before the wave completely washes it away. |

What do you mean by "different"?? Did anybody say they shouldn't be prosecuted because they are Americans?? Americans are prosecuted for their crimes are they not??
"Different" can mean a whole lot of things.
I know one way it's "different", is the fact that crimes committed by illegal aliens shouldn't have been committed in our country in the first place....guess why???
You got it!! Because they shouldn't be here in the first place!!! |

Then why are Americans in jail for breaking our laws? We punish citizens for crimes, too. We don't support anyone who breaks the law, not even illegals! Who said that Americans don't follow the law? And illegal is illegal. I think that their point may be that if illegals weren't here illegally, their crimes would not have been committed here. |

You are mis-characterizing the anti-illegal position and you know it.
If an American commits a crime, we (anti-illegals) feel he or she should be punished.
Likewise, if someone crosses the border illegally, we feel that person should be deported.
No difference. Illegal is illegal. End of story. |

LeighAnn...The ones who do that thankfully are few and far between. Most thinking people don't condone crimes by anyone. |

The vast majority of Americans don't make excuses for other Americans that commit crimes. I personally don't know any group of Americans that make excuses for criminals. |

all criminals need to pay for their crimes....we just don't need imported crime. and it's hard to feel sorry for someone who knowingly breaks the law the minuet they enter the country. |

I have been contributing to Y.A. for a very long time now and I do not recall many (if even one) making the claims that you say are being made. One (of many by the way) important aspects you are overlooking is that in the case of illegal immigration it is better stated that it is illegal because it is wrong, not it is wrong because it is illegal. Nothing about illegal immigration leans toward civic responsibility, moral or ethical codes, or honor. Illegal immigration promotes cultural decay, diversion of resources from needy families, increased crime, increased costs of living in the form of certain insurances,sub-standard heath care for citizens, sub-standard education for our nations children; the list goes on and on. I have seen you and your clan here doing you best to sway public opinion to no avail. I do not care where an illegal came from, I have the where-with-all to see the negative impact they are having on my people. For the record, it seems that those who support illegal aliens and illegal aliens themselves are coming up with excuses when the rest of the world have REASONS for not wanting illegal aliens infiltrating their society. |

Left wing liberals, don't want it to illegal, so they make excuses, tell lies to justify their liberal position. |

KRIS

it's not different. they have to use the rhetoric to make themselves look picked on and not their fault. and when all else fails we are racist. |

The word Illegal is an abstract action not a word to entitled to a person for breaking the law.
Illegal, or unlawful, is used to describe something that is prohibited or not authorized by law or, more generally, by rules specific to a particular situation.
And it will depend how you used or described. |

yeah i agree with u and am as clueless... some of my classmates say "well, they want opportunity just like you and me, and they're human beings and blah blah blah"... yeah, their points aren't very strong. |

The quality of mercey is not strained-Shkespeare's The Merchant of Venice.
If these immigrants are willing to take the risk of crossing the desert, being ripped off by coyotes (the person who arranges the trip-for a fee) and still stand a high risk of being deported, the reward must be pretty great. The problem is in the Mexican economy. People have to feed their family at any cost. It is still illegal but we have to show a little understanding as to why. The solution won't change until Mexico does something to build their own country up. |

becasue some...."Americans"
dont feel as if they could ever be on the same level as the
"Immigrants" (everyone knows they are talking about mexicanos)
Its as if 95% of all "Americans" dont realize that we STOLE their "land" and now they think they have the right to chose who comes in. This land was founded by immigrants, people who were running away from unfair countries. what makes it so different NOW?? HMMM?
Because really, seriouslly im very sick of it. |

So what if it is illegal?. We should share. We are Christians. So we should just open our borders and let anyone in who would like to come here and take advantage of us and our system. WTF? |

Yes, it is illegal by our laws, but what would God say? I believe he sets higher standards. I think our laws say one thing and our hearts say another. At least they do it you have any compassion for your fellow man. |

There are many answers to the other side of the question.
But the problem is that the issue has been so played up to a certain target audience of our society that most in that target have a real difficulty making themselves understood or offering clarity of thought. That's not a bad thing. The real question that we should be asking is why not seperate the worthless drains from the hard workers. It possible and cheaper to give them a bus ticket or plane ticket someplace else than it is to keep supporting the
"real people" that drain our system. But again illegals have been targeted as the bad guys for a long time. And it's easy to get people to react if you push an issue long enough or hard enough. |
