If my parents were born in egypt and they came to america and i was born in the u.s wat race would dat make me?

yeah so as i said my parents were born in egypt and they immigrated legally to virginia and i was born in virginia would i be half american and half Egyptian or whole american or what would i be because i REALLY didn't know and i need to know or i cant apply for this this at my school and it would look really good on my college application.so PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME??

Your race does not change with respect to where you live or what country you are citizen of. You are the same race as your parents. That could be Arab.

Your race depends on your ethnic background. Just because you were born somewhere doesn't necessarily make you that "race."

I was born in America, but I am half german, swedish & indian.

You need to ask your parents about their ethnic history.

First of all, you are speaking of ethnicity, NOT race. Your race is determined by biology, not where you are born. If you were born in the US, then you are automatically American; however, if you also identify with your Egyptian heritage, then you can be Egyptian or Egyptian-American. It is about how YOU identify YOURSELF.

But that has nothing to do with race. Race is genetics.
I guess you could follow the trend and say you're Egyptian-American.

i think of myself as british but like 1/4 african

i suppose this relates to you too but like
american with egyptian heritage

but on your school application i would say yours american, or which ever the option is.

My husband was born in Chicago to immigrant parents from India. This makes him American. However, his ethnic background is Indian. Taking this into account, you may want to do the following:

You are American. However, your ethnic background is that of your parents? Are they considered African? Are they consider Middle Eastern? What do they call themselves. Most likely the generic term would be "Others".

Your RACE is Egyptian or middle-Eastern; you are an American citizen, however. If you have a kid with a caucasian American, that child would be half Egyptian/half American.
