If yes so then the parent would get the canadian nationalities as well.

In general, anyone born in Canada from 1947 onwards acquired Canadian citizenship at birth. The only exceptions concern children born to diplomats, where additional requirements apply.
The parent would not become a Canadian citizen but could possibly qualify to become a permanent resident by reason of being related to a citizen; and eventually become naturalized as a canadian citizen. |

Almost all children born in Canada become Canadian citizens except those born to diplomats. Even if the child was born in an airplane flying over Canadian airspace, that child will still be Canadian.
The child can sponsor his parents when he turns 18 AND is financially qualified to sponsor them. If granted, they will become permanent residents first, then after 3 years (of 4 before applying) of residence can apply to become canadian citizens.
So it is not automatic. |
