If the US gave Indians back land,money,and religious freedom,don't African Americans deserve the same?

Yeah.We didn't get any of our land stolen like the Indians did but we did have to slave on it for years and years.

The land part, no, there was no land originally belonging to African Americans. The money, well that's a whole other debate. Google "reparations". And the religious freedom, yes, all humans deserve religious freedom, and to a great extent they have it in America.

Why do the African Americans play the race card for everything.
the protests yesterday were going along peacefully and then some hot blooded Nig steps up and crys out that it is a Race thing and they have all the answers.
To tell you the truth I feel that the racism thing would just fade away if the blacks would just drop it.

they do deserve the same. But for it to be in the same string of logic as with the NATIVE american case, AFRICAN americans would have to be given land and religeous freedoms in their place of origin, AFRICA. Good luck and godspeed.

Keep it real? You need to keep your facts real. Those from Africa were forced to the US as slaved on ships. If you want to put things back the way they were, you would need to gather up all the blacks and ship them back to Africa. I don't see what that would accomplish since they were born in this country. African Americans need to keep it real, by staying in school, getting a job and voting, and loose the street gangs.

Sure, they can have all the land and religion that the US stole from them. The US never took "money" from the Indians but does give them sovereign nations with which to enforce thier own laws. They can practice any religion they want on thier land. The US never took land, money or religion from African Americans, they took religious freedom from slaves hundreds of years ago that were brought from Africa by Dutch trade ships. If you think that after hundreds of years, decendants from slaves deserve reparations for thier ancestors suffering then you are on crack. If anything, then the government should give the land and money to the estate of the orginal slave and it can be divided among his or her decendants. So some African Americans will recieve 4 square inches of Nevada desert and 10 bucks in the mail. Thats keeping it real. I think people that try to get a handout for thier ancestors' suffering need to get a job and vote and tell your congressman that you want reparations. When they laugh at that person for asking for something so rediculous, maybe then, the person will realize that what they are saying truly is stupid.

You may be thinking of the land grant in Canada from years back. In regard to giving us money-HA! Thats a good one, if you can call a yearly check for $.67 money...

The indians had legal precedent for this. The US government signed contracts with them in the 1800's, and they are now able to go to court and have these contracts enforced.

As far as I know, the blacks never had any kind of a contract. I think they might have been given some basic help after the civil war, but that's a about it.

First, the Indians have very little "back", the rest they had to rebuild and work for.

And second, If African Americans DO deserve something back, what would they like "BACK"? a boat ride back to Africa? And I'm not being stupid. What, if anything, has been taken away from the population of African Americans that are alive today?

I firmly believe that every single person who was a slave before the civil war should get reparations. Find one still alive, though is the problem.

Alright man here's how I see it. The Native Americans were here before us and we slaughtered them and took their land, hence they were given land, money and religious freedom (which all Americans have under the Constitution) to make amends. Now don't get me wrong what we did to African-Americans was just as bad. HOWEVER, we didn't almost kill of the whole African population like we did to the Native Americans. Although we did enslave Africans and do attrocities to them they ended up still having a rather large population in the states after the Civil War. The Africans were enslaved whereas the Native Americans were dang near exterminated. And segregation and discrimination were still MAJOR issues for a long time after emancipation occured. Not to mention that the government can't really afford to do give land and money to every single person of African descent. It's not realistic. Look at how long it took before we could admit that we did badly by the Native Americans. And, no offense intended, I personally would rather be living here in the U.S. with all of it's opportunities than living in Africa where AIDS is running rampant (worse than here anyways) and there are refugees and a lack of food and clean water (in parts anyway).

Native Americans were given back their own land that was taken from them after we broke contracts with them. African-Americans might (or might not) deserve reparations, but not because we took their land or broke contracts with them.

The Indians were on the land from before. It was their own land. The land never belonged to African people. They were brought there as slaves many years ago.

africans were enslaving each other long before any european came on the scene and they are still killing each other off and enslaving each other

The reason that the US gave all that back to Native Americans is because their land was stolen from them whereas African Americans were stolen from their land.
I do agree that both were treated horribly. But you can't compare them in that way.It's not the same thing, Horrible but not the same thing.
If you disagree though I'd like to hear why.

If the US did that would require the repatriation to Africa of millions of people, their subsequent readopting of tribal religions and a whole lotta $$$$$$.

No- the only offer they could have is an offer to go back home. They were kidnapped from their homes. Marcus Garvey was a proponent of this idea way way back in the day..

native american's were slaves too. look it up on Google. i know that my ancestors did, the coahuiltecan's. and do you guys really want to go back to africa but i do admit that african-american's should get some money back.....then again so should the native americans:)

No they shouldn't. It was our land before any African Americans or Caucasian people came.
