If you are a Philippines Citizen (US Immigrant) and married a US Citizen?

Do you report to the local Philippines Embassy here in US about your marriage? If so, how does one get the process started? Do I fill up a form online?

I got married in Oregon and now live in Northern Virginia.

Kabayan, yes, you are required to report your marriage at the Philippine Consulate that covers your state.I think you are covered by the Philippine Consulate in Washington, DC.You can download the form online and you can send it by courier including the fees and documents needed.If you are a Filipina and your passport is in your maiden name and not yet expired you can also include in it an application to amend your passport.

No, it's not necessary. Your best bet is to have as few dealings with the Philippine embassy as possible.

I really don't know but my dad is from philipines too! and he got married here in the US he never reported the Embassy!

In most cases, you don't need to register a marriage abroad in your home country - so long as it is legal and binding in the country of marriage, it's legal and binding everywhere.

Call the Philippine Embassy to check. They should be able to give you the precise answer.
