Well Bob. It's like this. I feel really bad for the starving Mexicans. But, they need to take up their issues with their own government and El Presidente Fox. America has laws pertaining to people crossing the border undocumented. They need to enforce our laws. It's a thing called border security. If they want to come, they can get here legally, just takes a little effort - which they don't want to do. P.S. They don't want to be citizens, they just want our $$$$$, and health care and education for their babies. It is not the responsibility of USA to take care of the Mexicans too. Come legal or stay out! |

I guess I would if it's the only way for my family to survive. Honestly it's easy to say hate words against these people just because we are privileged to be born here, but if the roles would be reversed, then I'd do the same thing they did. Just cross the border and find a job you say? It would be easy because there are always employers looking for people to exploit just to earn more money by hiring them.
But if I do it, I won't avail of these freebies from the government. Earning an honest living is good. Taking away benefits from those who deserves them is not living with dignity. I would pay taxes too even if I can't avail of the benefits because It would be one way of repaying this country for giving me the chance to provide for my family.
Of course I'd rather do it the legal way so I won't be living in fear of being caught :) |

I would absolutely cross the border and I would just like to say that my boyfriend was born in Guatemala and his family and him ate tortillas and salt for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if they were lucky...most of the time they ate once a day. They were very unhealthy and mal-nutritioned. They came here and are now very hardworking people, they are not the stereotypes(on welfare, lazy and/or criminals). Yes, they came here illegaly but they have their papers and are now american residents. THOSE ARE THE TYPE OF IMMIGRANTS I AM OKAY WITH BEING HERE!!! THEY ARE THE REASON I AM SO CONFUSED AS TO WHAT SIDE TO BE ON IN THIS WHOLE IMMIGRATION DEBATE...I DONT WANT THE ILLEGALS THAT ARE NO GOOD BUT THERE ARE SO MANY THAT ARE GOOD(MY BOYFRIEND AND HIS FAMILY FOR EXAMPLE). Sorry about that, just had to get it off my chest and this seemed like a good time... |

I would, it would hurt me to much to see my child staving. Have any of you ever seen a starving kid? |

I think I would do my best to get a job (any job) while applying for legal immigration or at least a work visa for the USA. No, I would find a way to feed my kids, but hope I would be able to do it legally and would only as a last resort do something illegally. Of course, I would not let my children starve if it were within my power. |

If I was from Mexico, maybe I would have a huge rally in downton Mexico City against the corrupt government. There is no reason Mexico cannot have a fulfilling economy. Instead of overloading the U.S.'s soical services, fix the country that you are from. Aren't people in Mexico patriotic enough to make their homeland successful? |

How exactly could I "starve" in Mexico? How did Mexicans manage to survive this long as a sovereign country, who has defended itself against countless attacks, if they were not able to feed themselves in the past??? (What was Cinco de Mayo for?) As far as I've heard there are no major droughts there, like there are in African countries. I've been to cities in the U.S. where I've seen homeless people (and their children) eating out of garbage cans. How is that any different from the poor Mexicans eating out of garbage cans? I guess you've never heard of how many homeless people live in New York, or the Bay Area in Ca..Poverty happens everywhere, even in 'rich' countries like the U.S. If there was a natural disaster then, MAYBE, you have some kind of point, even though the U.S. is constantly plagued with it's OWN natural disasters. Remember Katrina? Prob. not, you're only looking for answers that agree with your own (warped) personal beliefs. |

When Americans have trouble supporting their families they are told to get another job. Perhaps the Mexicans should do the same thing instead of invading another country and stealing from innocent people.
Americans here when they are struggling are told by the same ones who are proillegal immigration that if they are struggling that it is because they are unmotivated and not working hard enough. Perhaps the same could be said to these illegal immigrants. If what the pro-illegals say is true about Americans, then the same could be applied to these illegal immigrants. If they'd work harder instead of breaking the law of another country, then they should be as successful as these proillegal immigrants say Americans will be if they work harder without breaking the law. |

I would try to come over the legal way.
It really can't be that hard to get a work visa. Thosands of Mexicans have work visa's that allow them to come into the U.S. to work, and go back home afterwords. There is no valid reason to come over illegaly |

I've answered this same question at least moderately sympathetically too many times, and I'm done with it. I'd find another way. Others there don't leave. What do they do? |

Well, If i grew up in Mexico, I surely would know how much poverty there is. Therefore, i would keep my pp in my pants and not have babies to feed. If i thought with my pp, and did make a bunch of babies, and couldn't support or feed them, i would stand on the street corner and ask for help, like we do in the United States. Or, I would go to the grocery and perhaps pilfer some bread. But reall, I would plant a garden, or barter my labor for some corn, whatever it takes is what I would do. But I would not run to Canada, or iceland or greenland or the United States and ask them to support my pp replicas. Nice try, tugging at our heart strings like that, but I don't think a real man would take the chance of being caught and spending time in prison, thus leaving the family without any means of support at all. Man up and take your responsibilities seriously. |

Not if I thought I was risking being arrested and jailed for breaking the immigration laws of the U.S.
But...if I believed that the chances of being caught were slim (and the chances of being prosecuted even slimmer) then why the hell wouldn't I come across?
The proper question is:
If you lived in the U.S. and couldn't support your family would you illegaly cross the border into Mexico if you had an opportunity to make better money there?
Of course the answer is no. Who in their right mind would want to be arrested and jailed in Mexico? |

A.S.A.P the quicker the sooner. It's a mans' duty to provide and protect for his family. The usa should fine or imprison employers who hire for any purpose aliens, For cheap labor farmers etc should be required to meet basic standards These standards should be set by a fedaral committee and rigidly enforced with severe penalties for breaches. |
