Illegal immigrants are NOT all criminals, they're just people who are coming into this country to find a better life for themselves and their families. and uummm, wasn't that OUR justification for coming to America in the first place.

I love that "breaking into a house" analogy most people make , because it just supports the fact that we are criminals ourselves. We came to an inhabited land and completely took over, kicking Indians (and Mexicans themselves when we expanded west) out. Just because we draft up a few documents saying that a certain piece of land is ours (and have guns to intimidate people into accepting it)- it doesn't mean we own it.

Native Americans and Mexicans were here LONG before anyone else- Who are the REAL trespassers.

What about when you tear down a tree filled with colonies of ants, birds nests filled with babies, and squirrels, in order to build a condominium or Wall Mart. Aren't you taking away that land from creatures who already staked their claim over it.

I do feel sorry for them, but I don't think that it is fair for people who got here illegally to have the same rights as actual citizens of the US, there are people here who came to the US legally but are not citizens yet, why should the illegal be first?
Third,
the main arguement you hear from "them (illegal immigrants)"
is that they do all the dirty and cheap work, they are doing the work no one would want to do........(I don't agree, but this is off topic)
Fourth,
The US has a big problem....it keeps interfering with other countries or bothering problems OUTSIDE of the US. Of course the US needs to interact with the outside world, but ....
If the US did not attack Iraq, and used the money for its own people, I'm sure it would be much better for the whole country. But I'm speaking as someone who is in the US but not a citizen...(dad's a diplomat from ROC)

I really can't think why people here would support illegal immigrants to have the same rights as actual citizens of the US when people who got here legally don't and when people in the US are suffering, spend your time and money on your own country, help the poor people who are US people before you support illegal immigrants....

California alone has a enormous need for farm workers, and i dont see others waking up at 4 a.m. to go 2 work, for 9 to 10 hrs a day, with few if any breaks.

The crime is not always the person. I believe all immigration should happen through legal channels and that illegal immigrants should be processesed humanely so they either have a path to citizenship or are deported. I think the kind of immigration Bush is talking about makes sense; longtime residents who are here illegally have a path to citizenship as long as they pay taxes, a penalty, have no criminal record, and learn English. Others, who have not been here long, or don't meet the criteria set out, are deported.

I'm sympathetic to the reasons behind illegal immigration (better life, supporting a family, uniting a family). And I think US immigration law needs to be adjusted to accomodate some kind of guest worker program - as long as it's clear the guests are not taking jobs from Americans.

The "amnesty with criteria" plan of Bush's should take care of the 12 million here now. A Guest worker program and Employer culpability for hiring illegals will prevent the same thing from happening again.

The only reasons they have so many supporters is they MAKE THEM! Giggity git! Really though, I came here legally and waited 18 years for my citizenship, and I'm only 22 years old. We're paying for their welfare with our social security. Yes, they are coming here for a better life, but is the Mexican president hunting them down and trying to kill them? No, they just want to be able to hang out and get hand outs.

Think about this, why would the leader of another country support the other's open border? Whatever the case, get an illegal to respond to these posts, and then get me a translator so I know what the heck they're talking about. Wanna stay? At least learn the bloody language and NOT make us learn yours. "___ and Proud"? Go home.

If this is everyone's earth, why is there bloodshed over land? Think about that. Global community or overcrowding/overpopulation? Why don't we just get rid of ALL borders then? Why are there borders? Why are there stand armies? Why do we have weapons to defend our land? Why can't we live just anywhere? Tried another country lately?

I am third generation in my Hispanic/White family. My great grandmother came here and got citizenship the LEGAL way ! ! This entire country is made up of immigrants, whether they are third or thirty'th generation. I hate the fact that there are so many Mexicans who are living in this country illegally and bringing down the community in which they live. NONE OF THEM DESERVE TO BE LEGAL ! ! ! ! Why ? ? ? I show no pity towards any of them. It is actually funny how they come to this country to do exactlly what they did where they came, sell useless products near automobiles. You want to come to "America"?, then you should learn the langauge, save some money, and finally apply for citizenship . . It's that simple.

We are becoming a global community. I believe in open borders and freedom for all mankind. To suddenly say enough we don't need you anymore is hypocritical. Immigrants are in many ways the backbone of our country.
If you call them criminals then so is everyone who ran a red light or did not keep the speed limit etc.
Is it legal to invade a country and claim it as yours? Is it legal to pillage a countries resources for your own benefit?
We all own this good earth and should have the right to live anywhere we want.

and the BS that they are taking our jobs is not true , on the company where I work there is , Blacks ,Americans, and HISPANICS, that is the definition HISPANICS not MEXICANS OK , and most of the work done here is made by the Hispanics, the Blacks well no comments , and Americans are allways sick , or allways asking for a rise but no work done , so you see you are allways complaining even here , not only at work . but here too .
