You would think that is a valid reason, after all you had to have at least 1 ancestor who was kidnapped from Africa and sold into slavery on U.S. soil. As long as you can prove your ancestry truly goes back to Africa, you might have a fighting chance. It would definitely be an interesting attempt to monitor, in my eyes. But, in all my years on this earth this is the 1st time I heard this type of plea from someone. I wouldn't recommend going there broke, it is still foreign soil to you.
An easier way is to volunteer for an organization, that is doing work in Africa, that way you could go safely, experience the culture, be given food & lodging, and help your fellow mankind.
You are truly a unique young lady, I hope you achieve your goals. |

OH MY GOD!!
Stop embarrassing our RACE!!
I'm so tired of you dog azz blacks....playing the race card...
trying to get everything for free!!! Get a life and get your
own damn ticket!! And get the hell out of here.
By the way....to keep up with the current 'race' card.
We real Black Americans. you know, the kind you are
not familiar with, the ones that work for a living, and pay
their own way through college....don't call ourselves
"African" Americans.
We are AMERICANS!!
Get with the program!....
Never mind.....just get out!!

How do you know???
Did you ask them??
Well guess what???
We all should get a free ticket....cuz recent studies say
we are all black and all from Africa...
so that must mean you can't play the "race" card anymore.
Oh Well!! Gotta buy your own one way ticket!!
Bye!Bye!! |

I hope you're kidding... but if you're not - I guess that means, all things being equal, that you want the free trip that they had. In that case, I think you'll have a very uncomfortable journey. |

Perhaps the African government could foot the bill or pay half. Africans sold their own people into slavery!!! Didn't know that? They rounded African villagers up, brought them to the ports and sold the slaves to the highest bidders!! |

Believe me, you don't want to live in Africa...I've had friends from Africa (Somalia) and the things they've seen are too horrible to speak of. Even South Africa is pretty bad.
You'd have a high chance of being raped, and the chances you'd get AIDS is pretty high (everyone has it). Women are not equals in any country in Africa. |

marcus garvey tried that,it seems not many wanted to go. no the government shouldn't pay for your trip. work and save up for it. |

Most White Americans are closer to their foreign roots than most Blacks.
I'm a second generation American. I would NEVER think of calling myself a European-American. I'm an American.
Most Blacks are usually 10th-15th generation American, except for some from the Caribbean.
It's time to get over it. I'm closer to being killed by a czar, than you are to slavery.
And I'm a hard core Liberal. |

My ancestors came from Sweden--I'd like a free trip there, too.
I really doubt that the US government is going to give anyone a free transport to their country of origin--unless they are illegal Mexicans, unfortunately. |

Girl, there is such a thing as Pride and such a thing as Terminal Stupidity.
Africa is a living death trap. WHY do you want to go and live there? My ancestrial roots allow me to be the King of practically a small nation in Africa. I am in NO hurry to go to Africa.
Africa may interest me for my roots, but in today's world I would rather be here... |

I agree lets round them all up and give them a free one way ticket. Look how much the crime rate in America would fall |

People that immigrated here from Scotland don't get a free trip there, so why would you be any different. What happened to your ancestors did not happen to you just like what happened to mine didn't happen to me. Get over it. Save your money and pay your own way. |

If you want to indulge yourself in the fantasy that somehow you would be better off as a black person in Africa feel free to do so. Please find a way to finance your own delusions. Fact is blacks in America enjoy the highest standard of living of any blacks on the planet. You have as much in common with African blacks as say I do with amerindian savages in the Amazon basin. Any debt you may feel is owed to you by the US was paid on the battle fields of gettysburg, Vicksburg, Mannasass, ect. Remember slavery is still practiced in Africa and was abolished in the US in 1865. If you think you are broke in the US which has the richest poor people on earth I can't imagine how you would do better in a continent with an average wage of 2.00$ a day |

Nope... But I'm sure there will be several people that would buy you a one way ticket out there... (But I'm not one of them)
What makes you think you are gonna be anyless broke in africa though? And what makes you think Africa is even going to take you? They have immigration requirements too.. and Being Broke isnt one of em... |

I can bet you this ,being poor in America sure beats the hell out of being poor in any African country. I feel so sorry for you and what you have allowed your life in America to become. You could have been anything that you had the desire and fortitude to be.But instead you decided to blame your failure on something that happened long before even your great grand parents were born. You have let the past decide the future for you.... Why not blame the right person. Its not slavery,or the white man ...its you to blame no one else. If you cant make it in the USA ,you sure as hell arent going to make it in Africa, |

If your ancestors were brought against their will, and didn't immigrate on their own, I'd go for that. It would have to be a one way ticket with renunciation of citizenship, however. |

Are you kidding? Go back to your hole.
FYI: Did you know that it wasn't called the slave trade for nothing? Your 'ancestors' leader sold and traded them to slave owners ALL OVER THE WORLD...not just in the United States. Ask one of the presidents from your homeland, Africa, to pay your way over...their ancestors are the one that sold yours. Please research your ancestry and (like the woman said above) stop embarrassing your race. |

There have been different attempts at repatriating blacks to Africa, and the country of Liberia was founded by some African Americans who had been freed and returned. Lately, there has been talk of reparations to descendants of slaves, but nothing has come of it, largely because of the logistical nightmare that could ensue as people try to find and claim their ancestry. Lately, there has been no attempt at funding a Back to Africa movement.
If you are truly interested in living in Africa, I would suggest that you check out the Peace Corps or one of the main aid agencies affiliated with churches and other groups. That way you can get a taste of what living in Africa would be like, and help others as well. |

That is funny, i am from Nigeria. Born and raised there, i moved here 7 years ago with my family. Believe me, you won't like it there, its totally opposite of everything that you are used too. It might be fun to visit but not to live, you don't speak the language and it harder to learn than learning english. People might exclude you because you are not born there and there would be lots of jealous. Everybody there wants to come over here and people here wants to go back, irony. |

actually only your ancestors who were forcibly brought over here against their will deserve a free trip back. i doubt if any are still living. besides -- why should the american government have to pay? It was most likely dutch traders who brought your ancestors over -- go after them. |

nope, your slave ancestor can maybe get that ride |

Tell the immigration you came in illegally and your documents are fake and you'll defenitely get a free trip back. I hope you don't mind the handcuffs and shackles though. |

I think they only offer that to people who weren't born in the US or who were brought/went in illegaly.
Your question sounds awfully fake. Maybe some nationalists would be willing to pay for your trip. |
